Do yourself and anyone you run with a favor and don't fix the broken wire. replace the receiver with any am 27mhz.... you will find that the truck reponds much better and doesn't suffer from loss of radio as much... Cen has had a lot of problems with the mirage 2 radios.... I personally tossed the mirage 2 system in the trash and have been using a tq3 from traxxas ... works fine and has tremendous range... also, if you have one, must use a failsafe.....If you can't replace the whole system, you can get a 2 channel rx for around $10.00 to $15.00 ...

i second the first solution but on a bigger scale. just get a whole new radio system. it is a worthwhile investment.

if your short on the $$$$$$ then just fix the antenna. i dont know how long it is though

nitro, I have tried to fix the antenna and it is a very bad idea... Absolutely, if he can replace the radio system but at the very least, replace the rx... it is the biggest piece of junk... the truck is great the radio isn't. He will have many more problems if he tries to fix the antenna.

i highly recommend futaba. just go to tower hobbies.com and go to 2 and 3 channel radios. you will find a huge selection. i have a 3 channel radio because i wanted a nice FM radio but dont really need the 3rd channel. get the best radio you can for your $$$$. and dont forget a failsafe too.
