Default Change from a Savage: Revo or TNX?

Ok, basically....I want a change from my savage.
I love it's size and durabilty but it's a little unreliable in my opinion.

I've had a servo die on me. After installing the new servo, steering problems. it's really annoying to work with, the radio box is way to clustered.
The stock brakes sucked hard, and after installing the new dual disk brakes and stopping too hard too soon, it won't even start up now!
Blah di blah! basically, it's giving me more problems then fun! And I'm not happy.
I do bash it around alot, so i need a good basher (my original reason for buying it).

But a little more speed (acceleration) would be nice as well as better stock steering.

Basically, what should I go for? The Revo or the TNX?
It has to be a great basher, and it has to be fast. I just can't deceide which is the better truck out of these 2.
I want something that i won't have to upgrade much AT ALL so it will be great from stock (unlike my savage which needed a new servo, and 4 spider diffs).

The Revo looks miles better then the TNX. But one thing, I would put on bigger tires/wheels on these babies straight away (the TNX wheel/tire set up just look pathetic, it's like a moster truck with buggy tires!).
Can you get all the same wheel/tire set ups on the Savage as on the revo or TNX?

Please help me out guys...
i'm just lost.

Ok, I just had to add the LST, this is a big block right?
and I know it's expensive but what the hell it looks amazing.
Anyone know how it is for bashing?

I just realsied the Revo and TNX are small blocks, does that mean if i put in big ass wheel/tires they would considerably slow down? What about on hills etc?
Because I live in hill/bumpy kingdom, so i need torque and plenty of it!

It's expensive though!!!
And I heard that straight out of the box there are some issues that need addressing?
Is this right?

If its between the TNX and the REVO, i would have to say TNX. I own a MGT myself but thats not one of the choices your looking for. But there isnt that much aftermarket right now for the TNX like there is for the REVO. And if you wanna throw a big block in the TNX your gonna have to buy the conversion kit. Which means more money you have to shell out. Other than that there pretty solid fun truck. fast too.The REVO is a bit small for my taste as a MT, plus there a little too fragile for me(seen 2 of the brand new die on lil jumps at the track) and alot harder to work on. Theres great support and im sure your LHS has parts available. I almost bought a TNX but changed to the MGT and have absolutely no regrets. My MGT is more than what i wanted..... But put me down for TNX in this poll.....

What does a big block give you that a small block doesnt?
I thought the TNX was faster then a Savage, and a Savage uses a big block right?

What made you buy the MGT instead of the TNX?
And where can i find sweeter looking wheels/tires or shells for the TNX?
Thanks!

uuuhh, if your planning on getting bigger tires than the 40 series, i would suggest a big block truck or upgrade.

Well i have the HotBodies UFO wheel/Dozer tire set, they are pretty chunky.
7inch diameter I think..

But why a big block?
Does a big block have more torque?

POWER!!!!!!!!!! Thats what a big block gives you. If its fast with a .18...imagine what it can do with a .26,.27. or a .28!!! The TNX is alot lighter than a savage thats why it takes more advantage of the power it has. The stock savage engine to me was weak.. I put a XTM 24/7 PRO in my MGT and it hauls.....wayyyyyyyyyyyy faster than the stoker it came with... I choose the MGT cause it has a big after market following, plenty of parts availiable for my at any LHS i choose. I dont have to wait for a mail oreder on parts. Its tough as hell too. It does weight alot more than most, but taking out the reverse, servo, better steering kit, and stronger steering servo makes this thing a beast. PLus i didnt have to buy a conversion kit to put a big block in it. Mine is still stock accept for the engine and i put red shocks on the front to help with the weight issue in the front of the truck when going over jumps/bumps. I driven one with the extra weight taken out and it was like driving a whole other truck. The choice is strictly yours though. after all your the one paying for it....

yes a big block would have more torque what you need to move the big tires, 7inch might be ok, but your clutch or the engine might go faster than you want.

So Big Blocks have more power/torque and would handle hills better?
because I live in a VERY hilly area.

Can anyone tell me what changes the LST requires from stock?

every and all RTR has one or two things to adress, the Revo's 2.5 engine is an extreemely unforgiving engine tunewise, the LST includes a Synthesized 3 channel radio, a .247 pro with a slightly larger piston-sleeve and slightly less aggressive porting (more low end less top) and if you want to bullet proof a small block will not give you the power you need unless you go to a O.S. .18 TM/TZ

well lets put it this way big blocks have torque and small blocks have the power, both can be good for bashing and racer.

also your savage you said when you apply the brake........ it takes more pulls to start it next time, i would suggest adjusting the idle, open up the carb a little bit more, it might help.

big block:
mgt
warhead
trinity spyder
titan
dominator
mammoth

the lst is a good truck, but its un-relieable, just ask some people that use them on track, they have 4-5 clean smooth laps then it just breaks. it looks like an awesome truck, but its un-reliable and expensive.

the mgt looks like a nice ride, cvas all around.

LOL, ok...so we have an un-reliable beast that is the LST,
and 2 nippy lil buggers that run like a dream and are wayy fast but use small block small power engines.

So in other words...

I'm best sticking with the Savage [:'(] HAHA!
Funny

Guess I chose right first time...
In other words I should just fix my Savage and stop trying to change the damn truck?

well right now what you are planning todo, put bigger tires on them, or you already have them on the savage and gonna put them on this other truck. and you want a good basher, i would say keep the savage

Yea I already have put these big tires/wheels on it.
I guess then....i just better fix this damn truck! LOL.

I'm having so many issues though, the main ones with the steering, no matter what it just won't turn properly even when set up right.
i'm just waiting on my new HPI servo saver cam type kit to arrive now, then I can maybe put things right.

I went from a Savage25 to a MGT. I still use my Sav,but the MT is alot easier to work with and has been every bit as reliable as my fav ride(MUGEN MBX5). I havent had a single problem yet with it....but thats just my experience so far.....Its surely the best MT i ever owned..

Default RE: Change from a Savage: Revo or TNX?

Basically i fit this new HiTEC 645 servo, and the stock savage horn wouldnt fit on the top of the Hitec servo so i had to use one of the 5 it came with.
It all fit nicely and when on the workbench turns perfect.

Only problem is when it's racing/bashing...
the wheels turn ok for a few seconds then just hardly turn at all.

I'm not sure what the problem is. But after a drive I notice the wheels are turning way to easy. You can tell just by moving them with your hands.
I DO know that when I tighten up the screw connecting the servo horn to the servo, the steering stiffesn up again.
So it might just be this screw keeps getting loose.

but i honestly just don't know how to make it any tighter. it is the stock screw.
I also think maybe the screw on the next servo arm is getting loose in the new servo horn hole.
the stock servo horn has a long screw hole which is pretty sturdy.

the one I'm using now is just a thin piece of plastic with a lil hole in it. (like all the servo heads you get with new servos)

anyone know what the problems is?

you need a new servo horn sounds like its not the proper fit you want, it sorta sounds like my friend problem, he put a hitec in his buggy and it would work fine, then loosen up like you said, it turned out that the horn was for hitec but not for that size output shaft and he striped it, fixed it easily tho. just bought one made for it,

Ok thanks mate. i think it is the main servo horn connector screw because I just looked at in now and can clearly see it's loosened.
I have a question, i noticed the savage came with 2 other stock servo horns etc
Are these the same sizes as the one that comes fitted?

Or are these different connector sizes, one that may fit my new Hitec servo?
