dont jump the mammoth
myself and two other friends have been having problems with chewing up 1st gear on the xtm mammoth...
ive only had mine for less then a month...
we get into pretty big jumps...
after replacing 1st gear 3 times, and then finally replacing every part of the transmission, i think we figured it out...
when landing the big jumps the frame flex is so bad the drive gear and the trans shift dramaticaly...
this caused prewear on the teeth, witch eventually strips the whole gear...
all of ours did this at least twice..
also none of our shift into second gear, even after we replaced everything...
any comments to help out would be cool...
is anyone else having problems.....

RE: dont jump the mammoth
Not me...I race and have yet to have a problem. There is a brace system on the E----Bay by a user named corvetterick which ties the 2 towers together and solves alot of the issues.

RE: dont jump the mammoth
i just reinforced the frame from underneath,
i made that tower brace your talking about....
and got steel gears....
took it out last night and didnt have any problems...
we are using a skate park and jump these things really high...
the other thing is that its a concrete landing, this may be the reason...
how about shifting into second gear,
when i first broke it in you could hear the shift dramatically...
im not sure if it is, or maybe its shifting really soon...

RE: dont jump the mammoth
nope thats not the problem, you need to loosen the nut that holds the 2 gears on , because when you land, you engine is revving and spinning the gears, and when you land that mass of the truck stops the gears but the engine is still trying to spin it, so it stripps the gears, if you loosen the nut a tad bit, it will help
