Seized engine!

Just got my LST last week and couldn't wait to run it so broke in the motor and after 7 tanks it started to idle and run well so I was getting ready to lean it out and the engine wouldn't even turn over. Anybody else had problems with their Mach .26?

No I didn't remove it, I heard a few people say to remove it right after you break it in. I was getting ready to take it out after I broke it in. Does it void your warranty to take it out?

Yea, It's completely locked and won't even budge. The number on my case is 14065 so I wasn't for sure if I had the washer issue or not. I just called Horizon and they told me to send it in.

i'm not sure where it is exactly in the mach .26, it is either mounted on a shaft by the backplate, or inside the engine just in front of the backplate. you must remove the engine, and start removing the rotostart equipment from the engine. wherever it is it will be mounted on a smooth round shaft. once you find it, remove it , and then see if the engine spins freely, if it does, you need to replace the bearing, if it doesent, you should be able to see the problem by looking into the engine. if you have a digital camera, take some picks and post em here, i'll look at em tomoroww. i gotta go to bed, or i'll never get up for work tomorrow..
good luck, and post them pics.
good luck, and post them pics.

The one way is inside the backplate (Inside the crankcase). I got a replacement (new take-off) Mach from ebay (3 weeks ago) and it had the washer in it. I removed the washer and sealed the engine before I started it for the first time. I am on tank 7 (Optional large capacity tank) and loving it!

Love this Mach .26, engine seized on me again after break-in! Anybody else had any problems with there Mach .26? When it's running it'll run, but I can't hardly keep it running.

Waited for 3 weeks to get it back from Horizon the first time. I had a failed connecting rod. So got it back, broke it in and it started to run good after 8 tanks so was getting to lean it out and once again locked up! They've been working on my engine longer than I've owned it!

Should I say it? Nah... I don't think I should...
Just kidding... that sucks that only after a few tanks the engine seizes... hopefully you get it fixed and get one of the "good" Mach .26's. Maybe you should just have them give you a better engine for the "warranty"
I have a perfectly good 2.5r over here if you want it... it may be a bit underpowered for the LST, but .. at least it runs! It's only got 2 gallons through it.

Luckily a friend of mine has a spare Mach .26 that he's been letting me borrow while mine has been getting worked on and it will run! When I can get mine to run, it runs great just got one of those stubborn engines, hehe
. I've not really heard any complaints on the Mach .26 but I guess I just got a lemon. This time Horizon better give me a new engine cause I think there's something wrong with mine. I'd like to just get an engine that runs properly.

I know, I was just giving you a hard time... I don't know much about getting crappy engines... both of my Revo's engines were AWESOME. For some reason mine was a tuning NIGHTMARE.. I'd get it tuned, then the next tank it would be off (I think I had air leaks somewhere) but my other one NEVER had to be tuned. It ran at good temps, and gave awesome performance. My TM323 has always run GREAT. The only issue I have is if my starter battery is low, it has a hard time starting it.... but I think it's loosening up a little bit now. I know that I would be pissed if I only got 7 tanks out of an engine before it seized... I would have demanded a new engine. PERIOD. I'm sure the Mach .26 is good... haven't seen too many bad remarks about it. Unfortunately, you just got one of those crappy ones.

Use this break-in method: http://www.rbmods.net/enginetempering.php
Don't lean it out so much. These Mach's take a gallon to break in. I have not had to adjust my needle settings more than 1/4 turn from factory. It seems to have a sweet spot where 1/8th turn makes it too hot and 1/8th the other way is too rich. The LSN is still factory. It hasn't needed to be changed.
When you get your replacement, don't be in a hurry to lean anything. Make it run rich (Not crazy rich, but definately plenty of smoke). Keep it there until you have a gallon through it.
Mine runs 250-260 in 90 degree weather with the body on and a 1" hole in the windshield (I do not cut holes in the windshield, but it was there as I bought my LST as a used roller and added a new take-off Mach .26 from Ebay)

That's cool that you haven't had any problems with your TRX engine, I've heard that their very reliable engines, just not powerful enough for me. They're plenty of power for the Revo though. You have two Revo's, I suppose that you like them, hehe
. Have you had any major problems with your Revo's? Nitronutt you say a full gallon of nitro for break-in! Man I didn't know it was that much, I'm gonna go broke before I get it broke in.
