Anyone own a Warhead?
RE: Anyone own a Warhead?
Will order some wheels this weekend lol. Looks like there is plenty of wheel choices from HPI and I like this one pretty good with some badland tires.

Good news my parts came in today, bad news the clutch shoes are toast. So what you guys think about for a replacement ? Stock or would a 3 shoe setup work / be better ?
RE: Anyone own a Warhead?
I used aluminum Mugen shoes with 1.1 springs, good snap off the line, also a vented, hardened clutch bell keeps things cool if you are running big block power.there's nothing wrong with running a plastic spur as long as the mes is checked frequently, my bud's ran great with it all the time. Make sure the clutch bell is shimmed correctly and you will not have melt down issues..JMO..Later...KMess[:@]

Well i have a hot bodies .26 that may replace the ST but i am working on a 11 port Sirio .27 that could be tasty but may save it for a truggy. Either should be an improvement in power.
Killed the plastic spur and fuel tank is leaking again. So need a fuel tank and those are going to be hard to find . Tempted to try and pick a roller on fleabay.

Been too busy for much playing but have got some new parts to install. removed the engine to start the clean up process and wanted to ask how you guys would clean this mess up ? Spray it down with simple green and hose off ?
RE: Anyone own a Warhead?
Got her cleaned up a little bit and installed a new spur :P Is the EVO or RTX slipper upgrade worth it ?
Tell you what really caught my eye was the clutch bell, it looks awful for being used against a plastic spur and probably 2 gallons of fuel lol
Thanks for tips and help guys.

There is something wrong with that bell... you sure it only had contact with plastic??? Plastic can in no way do that harm to it!

I run the steel spur gears, I worry about how hot the clutch bell gets at times meshing with the plastic along with not having to be quite so precise with mesh.

RE: Anyone own a Warhead?
I would advise pulling the tiny hex screws holding the ring gear onto the center section and lock tightening them if not replacing with something that has a better head, I found some screws with a phillips head and then lock tight them, the stock allen head is so small you can not tighten them properly, or break them loose if they are very tight and they have a tendency to back out and ruin the tranny case. Ps I ran my warhead with the HPI K-4.6 last weekend, still a great truck.

Is there any tranny parts that be should stocked up on ? Have arms, hubs, knuckles and bulkheads but just want to future proof since some of the parts are getting harder to find.
I agree it is a very fun truck..... probably the most fun out of all my car's it just took me a few years to figure some things out lol. Bet that 4.6 hauls the Warhead nicely

RE: Anyone own a Warhead?
Adding more power makes things wear out faster, I have stripped a ring and pinion in a rear diff, and had the top (input gear) go bad in the forward only tranny but the screws had backed out of the spur and tore up the case and the input shaft bearings had gone bad so it was not really the trannys fault. the front skid plate likes to crack and the steering belcrank is attatched to it so they need to be in good shape for the best steering and I am sure you have figured out aluminum front bulkheads are really nice
