New engine teardown, sealing, and before running. YEA or NEA?
Is it really important to teardown a new engine, and inspect and flush it out, reassemble and reseal all potential possible leaking areas. Many say it is highly worth it, but with todays advances you would think quality control is pretty good.
what sayth you???

I Don't bother,
But I Don't Race and Only run Engines that Cost less than $200 Bucks,
I have over 8 and half Gallons on my First Mach 26
and over 10 Gallons on Mach 26 #2
and I have the Mach 28 Ready to Go in as Soon as the 26 Dies..
Now if I bought a Race Engine or something that Cost a Ton of Cash I would Take it apart Before Break-in...

When sealing the the backplate with high temp silicone which side of the gasket do you put the silicone on? The part that's up against the engine or the part that is against the backplate or do you remove the gasket all together and just run silicone? Also, on the carb bolt where exactly do you put the silicone on it? Is it on the threads?

just my 2 cents, but not tearing ot down is perfectly fine.. untill you buy one that happens to have a large bit of steel shavings in it from the factory.. then you will wish you had :P
