Default CEN FunFactor/Fun Factor2

I currently have an Electric Rustler that's been a lot of fun. I have rolled, flipped, smashed, been run over by a bike. All I broke was the crappy stock front bumper.
But, it's not very fast (stock). Yes I know I could upgrade the motor and all but It's great for the wife and kids to play with. So I want something that can handle a little jumping and can travel through the grass a lot better and better ground clearance.

Wondering what the diff. between these two CEN trucks are if any? And are these two any good ? I would like to consider the Monster GT 4.60 SE RTR but it's pushing my potential budget. I want something that has support (internet is ok) but I want something that handles decent. Is there like a crossover ST/MT ?? Best of both worlds????

One of the reasons that I was leaning oringinall towards an ST because I thought there were so much faster. A lot of them are, but I don't to race and after a certain speed, fast is just fast. I want someting with respectable top speed, but good low end. I would really like to stay between $300-$350 RTR. Are these trucks okay for what I want? Any MTs I'm missing in the price range?

$300-$350 is a pretty tight budget. You can get the MGT 4.6 SE for $370 delivered at Ultimate Hobbies. The TMaxx is $350 delivered at Ultimate Hobbies. Of the two, I would choose the MGT 4.6. It's a pretty fast truck and pretty clean design, easy to work on.

For the CEN trucks, there is not a whole lot of difference between the Funfactor and Funfactor 2 truck. The body mainly. However, CEN Racing has discontinued them and replaced them with the new Magnum. If you are going the CEN route, get the Magnum. The fixed some of the weaknesses of the Funfactors, but still expect breakages.

Of the trucks you mentioned, I think the MGT 4.6 SE is the better truck.

If you could afford $450-$500, that opens up a few more doors. The Revo is $430 delivered at Ultimate Hobbies and the Savage LE is $470 delivered at Ultimate Hobbies. Also, remember which ever truck you buy you will need to buy some startup things like fuel, glow plugs, fuel bottle, etc... So don't spend your whole budget on the truck.

Maybe I should just keep the 1/2 T-Maxx I have.

Go with the CEN Magnum NX... under $300 and 10mph faster than MGT and Savage.

But what about durability and parts availability? I mean I have T-maxx that just needs shocks, bumper mounts, and a good servo. I'm getting a Traxxas 2.5 motor and stock radio gear from a friends REVO. So shoot I can't beat it for free.....But will the new traxxas motor be a "drop in" on the old series T-Maxx ?

As far as parts availability, you'll really have to check that one for yourself. See what you can find as far as on-line retailers, if you're willing to pay shipping frequently.

Take it from me. For a first Nitro, you WANT to get parts fast. I got a Mad Force. Great truck. But when something breaks, because Kyosho hates me, it takes me weeks to get replacement parts. No one local stocks them, and finding them online isn't much easier, so I have to get my shop to order what I need. And even then, it might not be in stock.

There is no difference in the FF and FF2 cept the body color. Parts arent that hard to find online, stores are pretty much out of the question in my area for parts. But with a few mods the truck is durable, and is just as fast as any other MT2 out there stock. Go into the CEN racing forum unders cars on this site, there is a ton of info there, and lots of people willing to help

i would shoot for the cen magnum if looking at cen. great news---you're very close to me and hobbytown usa is picking up the cen line. i don't know if you know where hobbytown is, just head up 45N and you'll see it in the portfolio(sp?) shopping center on the right in shenandoah. they told me the cen product should be instock anytime now. also, they are going to start carring tamiya rc products. this give you the option of getting the tnx, which is supposed to be really fast too, and can be had for $309.95 at ultimate hobbies.

update!!!!!! i just checked the local hobbytown website, and it says the cen and tamiya cars are instock now! just give them a call and see if they are carring parts or if they are going to in the future. that should help for the decision. also, take a trip up there and look at them first hand. their ph# is 936 271 4818.

The CEN Fun Factor was my first r/c and it is a great truck to own. They are easy to work on, fast as you like and there are loads of online stores to get your parts and hop ups from. At 45mph it is still one of the fastest trucks out there and the CEN forum is a wealth of knowledge for owners. Get one and you will not regret it!

I buy all my parts online for all of my trucks and cars because the local hobby shop is about 60 plus away, but to get to the point, the most I waited was a week for parts from toyhaus.com for my Cen MT 2, and its been one of the most enjoyable trucks to just pound the crap out of for 250.00 from e hobbies scratch and dent (box was scratched). Never nothing major, only rear aluminum shock tower mount, and its fast. I clipped a pole with my Tmaxx and took 1/2 the front end off of it. The Cen just shrugs it off keeps on going.
