I have a Stampede, my first truck. Loving it, and way under the $300 mark, so you'd have plenty of money for upgrades.

Battery or nitro? CEN Magnum is a nitro MT for around $300. But you still have to buy xtras. $300 is a pretty tight budget for nitro, IMO.

Electric is far easier. I would also go with the stampede, since it is as tough as any nitro, but far easier to operate, it won't frustrate you as much, and it's way cheaper

The E-maxx sucks so badly, I'd rather eat dog crap than own one. It's horribly weak, It's expensive, it needs 2 batteries, and the stampede is still faster, it has crappy run-times, and you'll have to put 1k in hopups to make it worth bashing at all. If you want an electric 4wd MT, get a E-zilla, or get a pede, which is 2wd, but a crap-load of fun

If $300 is all ya Plan on Spending then ya may want to get an Electric?

You may find a Nitro Truck for $300,
But You'll Still Need Lots of Stuff to Run it.....
Fuel/Batteries/Glow plugs/Glow Starter/Charger/Temp gun/Fuel Bottle and So on.....
Plus you'll want to have some Spare parts... Theres nothing worse the Having a new Truck that Broke
and you Can't Drive because ya Don't Parts to Fix it and the Hobby Shops Closed....

I say Add some Funds to your $300 and get a Nitro.....

I second that. Magnum is pretty much the best nitro MT for $300.

dude add 70bux and get a savage or monster gt at www.ultimatehobbies.com u get free shipping..dont buy a truck just because thats the one u can afford..save a little more and buy the one u like..or if ur really limited to 300 then maybe find a hopped up used one on rcu market or the bay..

i just checked ultimate hobbies tnx is only 309 and smaxx is 299..emaxx is around that price too..out of those 3 i like the tnx it can compete with the other monster trucks out there

If you can find a used Nitro Stampede, get that. I got one with HPI .12ss, MAXX fuel tank, and Aluminum chassis for $140 shipped, so see if you can't find a used one.

I just went through the same thing. I bought an electric Stampede and it is so nice. Once I bought the batteries (4) and the charger, I spent over $300. Dont get me wrong, the Stampede is really nice and sturdy and fast... but, it just didnt have that gas sound and speed. After 2 months of the pede I had to buy a revo. Its nito and Im new at all this but, it really (so far) doesnt seem like much trouble. Except having to wait a week for it to warm up enough to break in. The stampede help pass the week. I wish I had just bought the revo and skipped the electric step altogether. I would have the $ to buy some revo hopups!

Enjoy what ever you get!

The electric Stampede is an excellent first RC truck. Parts are readily available and there are lots of hop ups for it. As your skill and knowledge increase then look into nitro.

Id say you can pick up a CEN Fun Factor MT 2 RTR @ ultimatehobbies.com for $259.95 no tax unless your in Cali w/ free delivery. and the rest of the cash can get you a gallon of 15% nitro and youll have money left over for a glow starter and batteries and youll be in the $300.00 range without breaking your bank. but thats just my two cents lol

IMO the cen funfactor mt2 or the cen magnum are the best bang for your buck.

The Warhead is coming down in price, under $300 on Ebay now...but you'd better have some time to work on it

I'd get a Jato if all I had to spend was $300 and I didn't want the maintenance issues - I guess that's classified as a "mini" monster truggy?

Cen MT 2 like the one guy said from ultimate hobbies or tnx from same place for 309.00. Both awesome and have great price.

Or just hold back or you will buy twice to really get what you want, and thats a waste of money, that you could end up buying lots of fuel and your nitro truck with.
