If you were going to buy a savvy I would say wait until the X comes out and get that one. It looks like its going to be pretty good. I'm not much of a revo fan, but it is a good RC truck. I have an LST2 and wouldnt trade it for anything, and I have had a savage LE and a T-maxx, and now I have the LST2 and its light years ahead of what I used to have. I cant say to much bad about the revo, I have never had one, but it has proven to be a good racer. The savage in any form is going to be tough as hell, and if you would like to build your truck the SS comes in a kit version, but you will need to buy the radio seperate (HPI and Traxxas's rtr radios suck anyway but will do the job). But try to get out and see them run somewhere like an RC track or whatever and see what fits you or what you like about them, if thats not possible at least try to get to a hobby shop and see them in person before buying and take a look at what you will be getting. No matter what you buy these days is going to be good, just dont get caught up in off brands. Try and stick to the more popular ones like Losi's LST/2 of course, HPI, Traxxas, Team associated's MGT, Tamaya's TNX (pro version is better), those are gonna be probably your best/only choices.

Also magazines and online resources can at least get you informed about each of them, and know what else you will be needing to get yourself up and running without to many snags. Asking what is the best truck on a muti-MT truck based forum is going to give you some pretty biased feedback, like myself with the LST2. So try to weed out the BS and concentrate on the facts that present themselves to you.

I personally like www.rc411.com for there performance tests. You can find the savage and the revo tests online there, they also have some videos of them running stock.

If you are looking at getting a Savage, there is a new Savage X coming out that has some really cool features. If you want to build one, get the SS 4.6. If you don't want to build the truck and you don't want to wait for the X, get the Savage 25 LE. I think it is still available at a few places like Ultimate Hobbies and some LHS.

As for the Revo, it is a better racer than the Savage. Both are great trucks and very durable. You will have fun with which ever one you choose. And, no matter what you get, you will break parts. The best thing to do is go to the LHS and see if you can get your hands on both trucks and see what you like. No matter what anyone here tells you about either truck, get the one YOU like becaause you are the one paying for it and driving it.

Depends on what fits your purpose better... If you want a great handling truck that can be used for both racing and bashing with little to no upgrades... Revo is a great choice... if you are looking for the "traditional" MT with a large stance, high Center of Gravity, and MT-like handling that is a great basher, but requires quite a bit of money for a racer... Savage is your choice... and they progressively get better (or so I think, anyways) so, since the X hasn't come out... the 4.6SS would probably be the "best" one... it's a kit, so understand you'll have to put it together, and it doesn't come with electronics.

I went with the Savage 4.6 SS kit because I wanted to know the truck from the ground up.

This is my first RC aside from the cheap ones you got from K-Mart when you were a kid.
