My buddy and I were drag racing today. My stock Revo 3.3 and his Savage X with a 24.7. He got me off the line but the Revo caught him every time. Then we just bashed the h--- out of them.

Here's a 13 lb LST2 running a SH28 P6.....A poor 3.3 would look like its in reverse.

I have a Monster Gt with a xtm 24.7 pro in it and it flies. For a vehicle this big and heavy the
engine does extremely well in moving it around.

A Mach 427 has about 30% less pwer then the LRP 28 Spec 2...I have a 24/7 pro savage which is the same as the 427 .......That LST in the video is easing off the line, and then nailing it as it shifts to second.

A 24/7 pro savage will get ripped apart by that LST i'm sure..

Your Mach 427 dynoes at 1.38 HP so it aint no world beater, its just the same as a XTM 24/7 pro....the Axial is 1.68 and the OS 30 1.8....the motor in the video makes more then both the Axial and the OS...likely 1.9 HP....

so whats faster 1.38 HP or 1.9 HP ?

do you actualy think a Maxh 427 is better then a SH28P6 ????

Why on earth do people drag race MT's? I know of a local club member that has a 100+ mph dragster that will smoke any MT out there. So, what is the point of drag racing a truck that might do 45? Do you find it exciting? Honest question, I really just can't see the point, but there are SO many posts about "which truck is faster" that I am trying to understand. Its a mystery to me.

Braging about that 31.5 second lap average, or a TQ I can understand. That involves both having a good truck with a good setup, and applying good driving skills. Its all about proving your skill as both a mechanic and a driver. Its also about having the right vehicle for the prospective application - Off road racing in the case of an MT. Or bashing too, I could understand bragging rights for the guy that can do a double back flip off some monster jump. Certainly an application of driving skill and mechanics.

Just curious, that's all.

LSTRacerX,
You bring up a good point. The great thing about a fast MT is its versatility.

Last week, when I was having with buggies(not on straights of course) but winning or coming in close with them in long ovals with long straights is amazing. In addition, when an MT can hang with a road car on the track, yet clear doubles and some triple jumps in the off road arena amazes me.

Some of my friends tell me, "Darn, that MT is SICK!!" This happens a lot because instead of having a road car for racing, a buggy and MT for off roading and jumping, my MT does it all.

So, yes, I know no matter what, there is always someome faster but isn't it cool that a monster truck can bash and do jumps yet hang with less versatile car such as a HPI RS4 or buggy?

People that love speed, love fast MTs; hands down. If the technology is out there, would you settle for a snail MT or a super fast MT that can do everything an MT can but also hang with lower COG(center of gravity) vehicles.

I'm not bragging, but last week, my 3.3s were unbeatable.

I see your point, but to me drag racing is a test of the machine and a way to compete off of the track. It does take some skill to drive fast in a straight line. I also hear alot of 1:1 road racers shunning drag racing as being too easy, but it's not. It's also a very good test of mechanics and driving skill, although it requires different skills. I'd would challenge anyone who says drag racing is easy to climb in a 650hp car on street tires and show me how easy it is. It's not like drag racing your daily driver where you just press the gas and keep it pointed in a straight line. With the RCs, it's the same deal. If you just pull an RTR out of the box and race it, then it's kind of boring. It's when you have a truck that you can't hit the throttle without landing on the lid that it gets fun. You have to have restraint and control all while dealing with the excitement of competition. I would never claim that it compares to running your RC on a track, but it's great fun to take turns lining them up and seeing what you can do.

Well, my point was not to say that drag racing cant be fun, nor to say it takes little skill. I can see and understand that. But if I was going to drag race something, I would want a real dragster - a 1/6th scale 3 footer that will do over 100mph. It'd be tons of fun to build, and to race. And no MT around would be able to keep up with it. Does that make more sense about where I am coming from?

man, way to try to pick a fight horsepower is not EVERYTHING when it comes to how hard a car/truck accelerates. it's ALL about torque, weight, and gearing. horsepower is just a pretty number they like to put up to sell engines:P

No actualy the HP ratings I posted are the actual test results from an independant dyno....using the Nitrodyne X Dyno...The manufacturers claims are completely 100% different...

All the motors I have listed make more tourque over a broader RPM then the Mach 427... Remember a mach 427 is built by SH, it is the same engine as the SW 26 and nearly 100% idnetical to the XTM 24/7 pro..all are re-badged SH25 pro's

The SH28 P6 is their new flagship engine, it makes more HP and tourque then thier older 25 pro design....The LRPspec 2 and XTM 457 are all based off the newest engine.

Your truck may be as fast, but your motor has nowhere near the HP or tourque of the SH28P6 series...

do you actualy think a Maxh 427 is better then a SH28P6 ????

Ok now take your 100 mph dragster and drive it off a six foot ramp at full throttle. The point is versatility. I can bash and then just for fun we can line our MTs up and drag in the yard or on the street.

Monster truck drag racing is kind of fun...it usualy involves one truck crashing into another truck and whole pile of mayham and laughs.... These trucks dont really like going fast in a straight line, as they everything but go straight...

Its all for fun and bragging rights LOL....

Me and my buddies will be installing wheelie bars.....On Sunday night cruising we will have little parking lot drag races...it would be cool to see two Nitro MT's wheelying the whole way side by side...

Anyways its all good...

Why do people drag race anything it is just competative nature . Mine is faster than yours . What is the cost for a MT to go that fast is the better question. I had a real fast savy in a straight line . It nearly broke me setting it up to be that fast . To adress the original statement . On a good day any truck will beat another . There are some many variables involved no single brand can claim supremacy .
