Default T-Maxx stalling problem....

New owner just after breakin.

Half way through tank 5,(yesterday) my T-Maxx began stalling. It would shut down when I slowed or near stopped to turn around.

I put her up and got it out this morning and topped of the fuel and it started the same thing half way through this tank (#6).

It seems to have developed a pattern of getting good and warmed up and then stalling.

I can restart no problem and it will idle but the slightest acceleration and it shuts down before moving.

I just put her up again. Don't have a new glow plug to try because the LHS sold me FOX Long #4302 and the stinkin' plug wire will not fit over the tip of the plug.

Thought I might be running to hot but I am getting some smoke.

OS # 8 Plugs work great in the TMaxx.

AS for the stalling......double check your carb needled settings and be sure your on the rich side. Follow the manuals instructions as to where to set them and work from there.

Also....look at your carburetor. Is it loose? It can work it's way loose and cause a problem with stalling. Mine became lose and it was stalling also. Push it back tight on it's mount and tighten the screw/nut that holds it in place.

Good Luck!

Appreciate all your responses to my questions. i'm going to give DuraTrax a call. Think I'll wait a while until everybody in the country that got one for Christmas gets through calling.

On the glow plugs, I was looking at pictures of others including the OS in the Tower Hobby book and they all look like they have the same tip on them like the FOX I've got.

If you recall, I've got a couple of FOX plugs the LHS sold me but the plug wire on the truck wont fit over the end of it.

Reckon Traxxas made their's differant to make it difficult to change?

Also, do you think that it would be ok to file the end of the FOX plug so I can get the wire stay on?

The Traxxas plug is a little pointed on the end where the others like the FOX is more blunt or flat.

This could be a recent change to the truck's wire as I've not run across anybody stating this problem when they say they run other plugs in the T-Maxx.

...why are you gonna give DuraTrax a call?

I would go through your needle settings 100% per the book. After these engines are broke in they need to be tuned properly according to the engines needs with regard to usage, climate, elevation, etc.

Because I have an electric car that I'm having trouble with and Crash-Me-Over answered some questions about it in another post.

The carb is adjusted just right, it runs great right up until it starts stalling. That's after about 15 minutes of running.
