Savage SS K4.6 vs Savage X K4.6
I have 2 extremely moded Savage SSs and was considering selling them off for the new Savage X 4.6 when it's released. The one thing that I dread is having to take apart the whole darn truck whenever I need to work on something, and from what I hear and have read the Savage X is easier to work on and get to whatever needs repair. Is there really a big difference in the ease and simplicity of the Savage X compared to the SS? Or should I just stick with the SS? Other pros and cons?

The Savage X upgrade kit is $130 at Killer Hobbies. You will lose more than that selling those highly modified SS versions.
A better solution is to go with afermarket LCG chassis plates( or the HPI racer plates) and the HPI 25 style clear radio box cover. Then simply upgrade to the X style diff housings, transmission housing, and rollbar.

Chronic, is the X lighter? I have the fast lane superduty tvps already. would the low cg tvps be as durable, if not more than stock tvps?

I haven't weighed one, but the X is supposed to weigh about the same as the LE did....10.5lbs. The only reason those weigh less than the base Savage is because they have lighter tires and wheels.

I would definitely follow Chronic's advice.. Numerous people seem to have been having problems with busted X chassis plates.. So why get them?.. IF(IF IF IF..) I even keep my X, I would almost definitely be looking at getting extended chassis plates from the get-go...
One other thing to mention - SOME others have also been having problems with the tranny case.. Not enough screws, flex, and thus busted gears, etc.. I can't say from experience - but I've read quite a bit about it.. I'm not saying it's definitely bad, but for me anyway, based on what I've read, there's a question mark..
