Default Anybody remember this stuff?

Hey all im new to the boards. Im just wondering if any of you remember any of these products. Ive been out of Electric R/C for a few years and was wondering if any of you had any info about these products,ie. MRP High Roller moster truck or the SCI Monster Card ESC. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I used to want a high roller in the worst way. I used to have the SCI speed controller and woukld like another one. I dont think SCI even exists anymore. Any info regarding this stuff for sale used anywhere would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx, Joe

The SCI "card" type controllers were popular with the on road crowd back in the early 90's. Corally also had a simmilar ESC.
The problem with those controllers back then was getting them repaired. The drive FET's were all surface mount type and when they went they would usually take out whatever component was on the other side of the board as well. If the ESC was worth repairing it had to be sent back to the manuf. instead of your local electronics guru. I don't think you'll be able to find any of the SCI controllers in new condition (the only condition worth buying). Today's mid-range to race level ESC's will surpass any ESC from 10 years ago.

I never did get to play with the MRP Roller truck. If you you want a big electric truck, the E-Maxx is one (very popular) way to go. Gas monster trucks a really HUGE part of the hobby now. Thanks to quality stuff from Traxxas, HPI and others the explosion of trucks has brought a lot of new people into the hobby as well as wake up some of the ppl that left the hobby. Associated is even getting in on the nitro-monster bandwagen. They're comming out with a .21 powered monster that will no dobut give all of the current trucks a run for the money!
