If you want to race, get the Revo.

I'd get the revo, it just seems like a more "finished" truck. you can tell just by looking at it that a lot of thought went into designing it. I couldn't be happier with mine.

I have the MGT sweet truck. For 12lbs you would think at high speed you hit something you can hang it up but not really. The revo are fast and handle great I am told, but for 100-150 bucks more it should be a better truck. The only thing wrong with the MGT is the engine, i changed the carb on mine and the thing screams now. The bad thing tho with most Traxxas products is that they are grade stock. But you start upgrading engines and things like that you start running into major issues.

do you have personal experience with this? I have upgraded the engine on all of my traxxas RCs and none have had issues...

well my friend has a sav x with tranny problems (it allows the spur gear to get chewed up) and might sell it to me..but how much would it cost to fix the tranny?

The REVO is faster than the MGT , but the MGT is a better all around truck IMO . Both have some weak spots but any truck you get is gonna be like that . The MGT is going for 369.00 shipped online , which is a bargain for what you get IMO .

You can check on Ebay and see what a Savage tranny is going for , but there could be other reasons why the spur gear is getting munched (wrong gear mesh , loose or worn slipper clutch , binding somewhere in the driveline ect.)

Revo. It can do both. Stock, it's a good basher. Add RPM a-arms, and it's gonna be even better. FOC makes it even faster.

XTM basher, please reconsider. Read my USER REVIEW of the XLB buggy. XTM products are NOT good. As for Revo or MGT, I have an MGT and like it. My neighbor has a REVO and although I don't really like Traxxas stuff, the REVO is impressive. Revo is faster, quicker, handles better. MGT is TOUGHER, really torqey, easy to work on, simple, more ground clearance. I'd still rather have the MGT though. The Mammoth is like Jean Claude VanDamme, looks killer on the outside but is all coked out and dead on the inside. Just giving you fair warning...

Well, with the T-maxx 2.5 friend of mine went to the sirio .23, then down hill from that. Now everything in his truck is back to stock and he couldn't be happier. now I am not saying if you upgrade to a killer motor with any truck things won't start to brake. But with most traxxas i have seen, the closer you are to stock, the better they proform. Just from my experience. :-)

At hobbytron.com, I got my MGT for $338, with a coupon (SAVE3D) for 3% off and shipping was $35 for overnight, $19 for standard. It's the cheapest place.
