Default locking savage diff

can i use castrol heavy duty grease to lock my savage rear diff? i mostly bash on grass or dirt

I can't see how grease can "lock" it but I see little reason to think it would hurt it. Being a heavy weight grease will definitely slow down the differential's slip though which gives you what you want.
