Default Savage with CVEC

I just installed a CVEC z170 pipe on my savage along with a chunky motersaver airfilter and I'm having a little trouble tunning it.

I'm running the stock 21bb engine, with 15% nitro 18% oil (3% caster) fuel, and an osA5 glow plug.

I'm having a few troubles getting it to punch when I open the throttle, it's a bit sluggish off the mark!

Other than that I couldn't be happier with my truck. I think I got one of the first ones that came into Australia back in november and I still haven't broken a single part!!!

It's taken a few nasty hits, the worst was when I was adjusting the two speed on a netball court and I got some shocking intererence. The front right arm lined up perfectly with a netball post and WHAM.. my stomach sank, but the only think I could see was some white paint on the truck from the pole. This thing is tough! The only wear I can see is on the hubs.

Anyway, if anyone has any sugestions on the tuning, that would be great. Also, if there's anyone in sydney with a MT that wants to have a bash let me know.

Cheers
Ted

G'Day Ted
I am also in Sydney and just got my Savage 2 weeks ago.
As the Savage is my first nitro car, i cant offer any advice in tuning the beast. :P I have used about 10 tanks so far and have just stated to lean it out.
Dam this truck is quick.I finally got it to shift today and am very happy with its performance. It wheel stands going uphill!

There is a track at St Ives that races nitro trucks,I am going to check it out tomorrow (Sunday).

Where do you drive your truck and what suburb are you in Ted?

Sweet!

I went out to the St Ives track the other week for a run.

Depending on the weather tomorrow I might go out and have a run. But if the sun is out I'll probably be at the beach instead

I'm at waverton at the moment, so not too many good spots to run there.

What fuel mix are you using? I can't get my savage to stand up even with this new pipe!!

I might try putting a heavier oil in the shocks and stiffening the springs some. anyway if I go tomorrow it'll be about 2 o clock

I bought my truck from Radio Model Supplies in Perth over the net. Back in December there were 8 in australia. But I've seen them in a few more shops now.

I bought my air filter from Newcastle Model Autosports and
my CVEC from Frontline Hobbies in Newcastle.

Still having trouble tuning it though, if anyone has any tips.

What fuel are all you guys running?

Use 20% fuel. Even 25% should be okay, but 20%is recommended. Have fun!
