I think its a good idea. Even if its not 100% accurate, it will still be able to point people in a direction they want to go, incourage them to look into that engine further, or even introduce a engine they never heard of.

i think a good and probably needed spin-off of this chart would be the right pipe for each. You buy a RTR truck, upgrade the engine then scratch your head looking for that big difference.

There's already been so many flippin' arguments over actual HP ratings vs. claimed HP ratings and all that..... this chart / thread should should generate some interest.. or something like that

and... why the heck did RCU get rid of spell check anyway?[sm=confused.gif]

I know there are some of you guys who are really into these charts, so don't get too mad at me about this... but I think they are all screwed up in one way or another. The original MT chart is nothing but a copy and paste of the manufacturers advertising claims. Oh wow, the Revo runs "40+" mph... thanks for clearing that up, as I had missed it in the 9,000,000 other places that Traxxas makes the same CLAIM. Who really gives a crap about the "claim to fame" either? Just more manufacturer created fluff.

Personally, I first came to RCU loking for REAL info on these trucks, and that chart completely disappointed me. It's nice to have a place to see all of the trucks where you can sort of compair them, but it offers nothing that any potential buyer could not get by simply visiting the manufacturer's websites. I understand the reasons for having it though, I just don't like the way it's done. You should either state ONLY the FACTS, or completely forget the whole thing.

^^^Those comments are directed at the MT chart. That engine chart looks okay I guess, but again, it depends heavily on the manufacturers CLAIMS.

Just my opinion.

Ok let me clear things up a bit!

This i going to be connected to the mt chart.

This is not for stock engines!

This is going to be called the ultimate mt chart remix!

I mean come on what an ultimate mt chart with and ultimate engine chart?

The engine chart is the hop/up engines: Axial, O.S., Picco, Team Orion, and Peak Performance, so on and so fourth!

I know there is a lot of b/s about the hp claim and bla! This if what come from the manufacture! In addition, i already called xtream RC and there going to help me with the engine claims, as well as the manufacture claims!

The main reason why i think dynos don’t work is because there no torque from the motor, when a real engine is hooked up to a dyno the torque from the engine gets it going and slowly decreases in torque and lets the rpm take over? In addition, most of the time the transmission is connected, so now there is gear ratios involved! because there’s no torque in our little nitro burnners its hard to rate the hp, u would need a small weight for the motor to run off the rpm, so their for getting a real hp claim, and as well do u see any dyno's in the mag's conecting the trannys like the real cars do? NO, if our small motors where connected to the tranny the torque would apply like a real car and we could get a better hp claim cause then the engines would not have to work as hard to show the real power. If u connected the motor up to an lst diff just the diff do u really think its going to be able to move that truck with out some major stress? Or push it pass 40+? NO, u need the tranny to reduce all that weight to get that truck going! If those mag owners are, here reading this hook up the trannys then we will all know for real what the real HP is!

No dude, you've got it all twisted. To see an engine's power, the BEST way is on an engine dyno. The real 1:1 testing you are referring to is using a chassis dyno. While you can make accurate estimates of an engines power output based on chassis dyno results by taking the drivetrain losses into account, a chassis dyno is more for seeing what the whole vehicle combo is putting to the drive wheels. You would want to put the engine on a engine dyno if you were trying to pinpoint it's output.

[link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torque]HERE[/link] is an explanation/definition of torque, if interested...

you need to add the word CLAIMED to any HP, Torque, RPM, etc statements on that chart.

and... why the heck did RCU get rid of spell check anyway?[sm=confused.gif]

yes it would be a good idea to bring that back but, Its really not necessary because if some people would look into their internet browser they would find that there is a box you can check off that says: check my spelling, or something along those lines. I use Firefox and I'm pretty sure internet explorer has the same option. Its really handy. not that I'm looking for perfect complete sentences but, correct spelling and occasional punctuation would be nice.
