gearing setup

Default gearing setup

i have an electric stampede, with a trinity monsters of touring 17T double, mostly stock, i am running a 87 spur with a 22 pinion, is this a good setup or should i change it?

The pinion seems kinda big for that to me. It might be ok for a 550 size motor. I guess it depends where you are running it. If you're mainly running it in dirt or grass you may want to gear down some. You'll get better acceleration, better run times, and your motor and battery won't get as hot. The stock pinion is 18 tooth, try that and see how you like it.

yeah i would just buy a few differnt spur and pinions and mix em up a bit. Small spur will gear it up, bigger spur will gear it down. Bigger pinion gears it up and smaller pinion gears it down.
I found IMO from racing carpet oval that spur gears are for more of a minor (fine tune) change and pinions are more drastic changes.
