Stock - E-Savage hands down!

Now that their modded, e-maxx is brushless, e-savage has S-600 motors, so the E-maxx is a good bit faster. BUT it still can;t handle as well as the savage even AFTER i added upgrades lol.

No bloopers, those are all the short vids i take while driving it, I didn;t beat it up to hard today because i knew a bevel gear would break, i'm going to loosen the slipper even more and see if that helps?

Thanks for the offer, i have an extra bevel gear that i'm putting in it tomorrow and HPI is sending a set of 4 to me, i talked to them over a week ago but mail is slow so they won;t be here for another 2 weeks probably.

Everything seems to be sitting right, I spin them freely while its apart and make sure there is no binding, still have the 2 stock shims in there and everything. Where EXACTLY do the two SHIMS go? One on each side? because i have 2 on one side but thats the way it came stock.

Awesome vid "jucd" What kind of runtimes are you getting with the E-savage? I am looking into buying a electric because there are some days I just dont want to deal with the nitro.

It all depends on the MAH rating, the stock 3300's depending on your driving style will last 9-15 minutes i'm guessing maybe longer,? More MAH = more runtime.
I'm the same way i like all three, gas, nitro, and electric!
If your looking into electric DEFINATELY get the E-Savage!

It's the piece that connects to the axle, the bevel gear! It's got a little hole where the pin goes through that secured the axle to it. No part number? It's been snapping around the hole.

MatthewJ- New Differential Bevel Gear Pics:
I just received my new bevel gears from HPI, only took 2 months.

I'm posting a few pics of my current gears compared to the new ones. My old gear is silver, whereas the new one is dark grey.

They feel stronger, and noticeably heavier.

Here are the pics. .. Disregard the missing tooth on mine, and all the grease[8D]

I beleve those are the new ones so wen u get urs make sure there them!

Pythonfan ~ Great job finding this post man! THOSE bevels are DEFINATELY looking tougher! The ones on tower are the old weak ones though. I have the weaker ones i just compaired mine to the pictures, easy to spot because of the color and circle indentation in the middle!
THANKS , now all i need is it find a place to buy these lol

Yah AER WUBBY said he got some from hobbytownusa, but their out of stock now. Also said tower may be sending out the new ones once the old ones are all gone, which to me is BS because HPI should recall all the others and send their hobby shops the good ones, their the ones who f'ed up and made a PO S bevel gear! I've just been looking for 30 minutes and can't find them

well as of now i may or may not be on to something?

OK

These are stock right?

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXPCY0&P=7
This is stock for Nitro RS4 MT

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXTB55&P=7 Won't work right?
Well look at the optional one

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXJYM2&P=7
If u notice the bevel gear has a hole in it for the screw to go threw like the e-savage, it even comes with a smaller screw like the e-savage.
and if u use the rest of the diff gears it might just work?

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXBTA4&P=Z

Take a look at how the bevel gear looks the smae but no hole![:@]

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXAXL9&P=M
U said u had a dremel u could drill out a new hole
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXAXL8&P=M

That might work to? u never know till u try?

Hope this help jucd!

yah i was looking on tower and thinking about something like that, hmm but i'd rather just get the new bevel gears instead of going through that big hassle, to find out if they do or don;t work, remeber it takes 3 weeks to get a part to where i am, if i find out after 3 weeks it dosen;t work, i have to order something else, 3 turns into 6 and 6 into 9 yada yada WAY to much down time. I'm about to call HPI tomorrow and ask them to send me a set of brand new ones, and or offer to buy from them directly and see what i can do. This is a BIG problem for E-Savage owners and it's plan ol rediculous, HPI should send a set to everyone who bought the E-Savage like a mass recall. I mean damn we spent over 300 bucks on a truck that breaks bevel gears like their going out of style. EVERYTHING else on the E-Savage is tough but one of the most important pieces break often. CRAZY, anyway i'm going to call them tomorrow and talk with them.

Well i was looking, u said u had a e-maxx right? well on the off chance u fell like tearing into it u might want to try this.

This is the e-maxx bevel gear
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXSP75&P=7 same as the e-savage, and if it can handel the brushless than it should work in the e-savage!

Then i'd have to use e maxx shafts also, making it ultimately more expensive, then i'd have to buy more e-maxx bevel gears for my e-maxx spending more. I really just want the new bevel gears from HPI!

FYI... E maxx shafts are stronger anyways... They are made from a less brittle material than the E Savage shafts. I sheared off about 6 of the E Savage shafts right where the spline starts. Installed E Maxx shafts, and didnt break em anymore. I run E Maxx center shafts in my E Revo and they hold up well.

BTW, kewl vid, but the constant back and fourth between live and slo-mo stills was getting annoying. It was nice at the beginning though!

Yah i have the T-Maxx shafts on my E-Savage. I went through that whole breaking the crappy e-savage ones a long time ago.

Yah the video would have been better but the bevel gear broke so I threw together what I could, i'll make a better one next time when nothing breaks right away.
