T-Maxx or Ek4????

Landshark,
Why do you think the Ek4 would suck at the track?
Thanks for all the input, right now I am leaning towards the Ek4 with the .70 and a 2 sp tranny.
Who knows maybe I will just sell both my V-specs and get both trucks
Has anyone had any expirence with this supercharger for the T-maxx, or any other truck for that matter?

If it would bost the output and torque of the T-maxx that might be a better way to go, best of both worlds kind of thing.

MeneR,
If you are talking about the EK4 with the .90 engine, this is what it says under the pic:
UPDATED 03-15-03: Right now, we plan to carry the Thunder Tiger EK4 Unlimited with Pro-90BX engine. Last we checked, product pricing and availability information were not yet available. Check here for future updates.
I admit that would be one heck of a motor for a monster truck but I think if I get hte Ek4 I will opt for the .70 and the 2 speed since this is available now. I don't like to wait for my new toys

extreme motor doesnt have EK4 in stock yet.
on track, handling becomes more important than speed.
EK4 has both its engine and oil tank on the left side so
i think it is a bad design. it makes the truck hard to balance.
that is why some people say "ek4 always roll over on track".
T-maxx is better, Savage is the best.
but with the power of .70, EK4 has more fun than savage
if you dont really race.

Like he said though with the ek4 roll over, if u want punch for the same price, get the .18 sirio motor for the tmaxx, itll be much faster and torqier.

I would seriously only get an EK4 if you really really really really want one. And if that's the case, then be prepared for a lot of downtime because the EK4 keeps on breaking things. I have one and so far the truck spends more time broken then it does being driven. The thing is, when it does run it is ALOT of fun, and yes, it is quite a handful. If you do decide to get one, buy ALOT of clutch bells, the EK4 loves to smoke em. Oh, and get ready for an EXTENDED break in period, i ran about 12 tanks through mine before it started feeling/sounding right.

CaseyDDR,
Will the 18 sirio work with the original EZ start on the T-Maxx or is it a PS engine? Does not really matter to me but one of the big selling points for me was the electric start on the T-Maxx, would be cool to keep it if I change motors.

Why I DONT like the EK4
1) Availability
2) IF its so good why isnt it popular?
3) does the .70 produce even 2 times the power of the .15 even though its 4.7 times larger? NO! Remember displacement is NOT everything. High end .21s will beat the pants off that .70
I'm thinkin about the MonsterGT (or Savage or TC) with a nice Rossi .21 in there. I'd choose that over the EK anyday.
I did research on the ek and my end decesion was that its just not quite there yet. Especially not at that price!
All that is personal opinion only of course!
If you have an EK4 and your happy with it, let us know!

BUGGIES_R_US,
Thanks! That is exactly the type of information I was looking for when I started this thread.
I have heard from T-maxx owners, now I would like to hear from some EK4 owners.
Keep it comming! Only 1 week till the Toledo show. I hope to get a MT by then one way or another.

i can only play on grass ground, parking lot.
download this video.

in the video, that blue truck, which smokes all other
trucks, is the EK4

Now that's what I'm talking bout!
Awsome video!
Does your EK4 have a wheelie bar on it?
After watching the video I am almost certain now that I am getting an EK4! A friend of mine is looking at getting one as well so we can race.
I hope someone is selling these at Toledo this year. Only 6 days away!

Sorry, I thought since you posted the link to the video you owned the truck
Anyway, really leaning towards the EK4 and have my LHS checking on prices for me!
I let you all know what one I get, in case anyone cares

badboy2,
I am going to go by a LHS that actually has an EK4 in stock and I will let you know about parts availability. There seems to be a lot of places that sell parts, and hop ups on line.
CaseyDDR,
This same hobby shop has both a T-Maxx and Ek4 in stock so I am going to go there this weekend and do a side by side comparrision. My mind is never totally made up until I actually buy one. (Geez, I am starting to sound like a women)
I got to tell ya that the video that LandShark posted the link to was awsome!
Who knows, if I get a good enough price, I might just end up getting both

I also wanna say that..
I personally dont wanna diss the EK4. I dont think its a bad truck at all! I wouldnt mind owning one.
But all those other factors add up real quick.
And hey landshark.. Your are from where? And where is the EK4 made? That means you got da hook up
I agree the EK4 probably will beat other vehicles because it will have more torque because of the higher displacement so you can gear it taller and achieve higher top speeds without the use of a power band-taking-advantaging 2-speed.
Hows the fuel efficiency btw?
Now to take a look at that video!

This is a harder decision than I originally thought!
I was secretly hoping that the EK4 was a real P.O.S. so my decision would be easier but that seems not to be the case.

so much better with alot better availability
