Hey everyone, Its Dan from Ottawa here, a beautiful day makes for some fun adventures:
I was just out lightly bashing, going up and down curbs, over packed snow mounds and stuff, and going WOT down my street. DEFINATELY better speed! haha!
I went with my dad to a parking lot not tooo far from my place, and we did a bit more light bashing, i gave him a chance to drive (...not too good at it..
but it IS a savage, right?)
Then, I realized that something was wrong.. My rear wheels had no power. at all. I lifted them off the ground, and (as well as i can remember..) they both diddnt spin much at all.
It was time to go anyways, so I shut off the engine, got home, and checked over the truck....
And I was missing a rear right dogbone (the thing that goes from the diff to the wheel is a dogbone right? the metal rod?) . Now, the first question is, how the HECK did that happen? lol. The second question is... do you think it could still be OK, and I go back to the parking lot and find it? Or should I just get two new ones, and keep one as a spare?
Thanks guys!
Cheers

not sure about the savy, but my MGT, when the pin that holds the dog bone and axle together breaks or comes loose, the dogbone can fall out undamaged. This has happened to me quite a few times. it's worth a look if it's not too far away.

When I lost one, i found a deal on ebay...4 dogbones and got them for .99 plus $3 shipping. so check out ebay for dogbones if you don't mind waiting for a bit.

what size should i be looking for?
what size should i be looking for?
the other two sizes run from the trans to both diffs
the only time I had any fly out on me is when jumping, when you raise the arm all the way up, there can be just enough flex to let one fly out...or landing wide open throttle can snap one...
Ebay is the way to stock up on parts...

If you are hard on it you might want to look into FLM dog bones. I read a lot of great things about them. I've broken 5 dogbones in 1.5 gallons of gas on on a Savage X 4.6rtr. I just got my FLM dogbones the other day but they are SO much stronger looking than stock I doubt I can twist the head off of them. The price isn't a whole lot different then for stock bones either.
