Smartech snap-on monster truck
Help!!
I am fixing a truck for my nephew and dont know what kind it is. NO box or manual.
He won it from snap-on tools. And it broke right away. He lost his foot in Iraq and I would like to get the truck going for him again since he got into rc in the dunes of Iraq. Some reasearch I have done points to a magic wheel nut after looking at pictures I think I notice some diffrence. Can someone help. Here is a discription. I need parts and I need to to where to get them.
1. the tranny has no cover( you can see all gears)
2. the clutch bell has 2 gears on it.
3. a chain drives the dogbones from the tranny.
4. the engine says SMT on one side and 25 on the other.
Any help would be great.
Jason

It looks to be the only smartech monster with a 25 size engine.

RE: Smartech snap-on monster truck
I have a 4 year old magic wheel. It has a .15 engine and a single speed tranny. Old tmaxx parts will modify and work on the magic wheel. Mine sat for 18 months when the clutch bell completely wore through. No after run oil or anything. Poured in fresh nitro and ran good.
Parts are a pain to come by.

These guys carry some parts. Takes about 10 days to ship to you.
You can download a manual and parts list from:
http://www.smartechracing.com/English/index.asp
then get part numbers, everything is by part number. Email these guys with part numbers and ask for a quote. If the tranny is broken, ask for a whole unit. I asked for a pull cord and a clutch bell. Cost $20 for the Pull cord and $13 for the clutch bell. Guy had a new motor with both for $55.

Car has been abused and parts break. Have a new T-maxx 3.3 and have broken more on it the first 2 weeks than I have in 4 years of the Magic Wheel. But then again the Magic Wheel I have doesn't run close to 50MPH! It's about 30MPH in a 1/4 mile.
Good Luck. If there are any more Smartech Parts sources PLEASE post!

RE: Smartech snap-on monster truck
Do you guys know that the smartech magic-wheel truck is a direct copy-cat of the t-maxx? Smartcrap(smartech) back-molded the t-maxx parts to make the magic-wheel. Furthmore, it is made from inferior parts and it is a complete ripoff compared to the real deal.[:@]
BTW, don't let smartech tell you guys that they bought the plans for the t-maxx. We all know that is a lie.[)]

RE: Smartech snap-on monster truck
To find parts fo Smartech, they unfortunately do not have much support in the West. So, your will proabaly have to dig hard to find any distributor who can obtain Smartech parts. Your recourse unfortunately, is to order the parts from Smartech directly in china. Also, there are some on-line stores taht do carry smartech parts, but most of these (or maybe all of these) are located ovrseas, so you would have to be patient and wait for teh parts to be shipped to you.
Now, it might be possible to slap on T-Maxx parts (T-Maxx parts can be bought at any local RC Store). But do not quote me about this. I do not know 100%. Since the Magic whel is a reversed engineered coopy of T-Maxx, the parts just might fit.
As far as customer support, please contact Smarttech. Please do not call Traxxas since Traxxas never made the Magicwheel (worse, you are aonly wasting Traxxas' personnel and efforts to service a truck they might not even be able to help you with, this only makes it more difficult for a legitimate Traxxas owner from getting help as you tie up the tech person).
