Default Good MT?

yes i am selling my revo 3.3 and wanting a bigger more bashable rc truck i was kinda leaning towards a MGT 8.0 cause of the massive power of the 8.0! but does anyone think this is a good bashing truck?

It sure looks like it is. I don't have the 8.0, but I have the 4.6 and it's a very good bashing truck.

I haven't heard of any spur gear problems on the 8.0. It's a steel gear with a better slipper set up than the 4.6 has, so it should hold up good.

Guys at my lhs are raving about the MGT 8.0. They sell (and use) pretty much all the major brand(Losi, HPI, Traxxas, CEN, etc) and has said that this is their favorite mt to date.
Well, convinced me so much so that I picked one up today Can't wait to break it in this weekend!!

The new T-maxx 3.3 looks to be awsome bashing machine. I am gonna buy one when they come out. It is a bit cheaper than most MTs also.(around 400)
That's my $0.02

The MGT does not have very good steering, if you get it you need to upgrade the stock servo. My MGT drinks a whole tank of fuel in 5 mins!!! [>:]
The brakes are also not very good and if they get wet they wont work at all []

The MGT steering is so so..If u turn up the Dual Rate dial It works pretty good. Also...any brakes if you get them wet will not work as good. With my stock brakes I can just about do a front flip on the ground If I pull to hard on the brakes.

A Tmaxx for 400 thats just robbery. You can get a new Savage X or X SS for 400 and it will smoke the t maxx in every way adn you wont have to be constantly working on it eother.

Ha, are you kidding! The new t-maxx 3.3 will smoke the slow and heavy savage X no matter how you look at it.

Ok, the MGT's steering is NOT bad. And fuel lasts up to 10min for me (when lighter on the throttle). Normally around 8 min. Tough, fun, big, AWESOME!

OHH sorry I forgot the new T maxx has bigger tires. Still the same crappy 3.3. I have a T maxx with a Picco .21 and my sons savage X runs all over it. A T maxx will NEVER out bash a Savage period! So unless you have actual experience with both which I have then you really dont have a clue.

Why do these threads always have to turn into a flame war?

For bashing the MGT has plenty of steering. It does ok on the track too, but it's not as good as the LST trucks or Revos steering.

It's always nice to get a brand new truck, but if you can get a used one that is in good shape it'll save you money. I personally don't like to buy used unless I can look it over before buying it, but several people have got good deals off ebay.

NEVER trust ebay, Its always best to buy a new one so that you can break in the engine yourself and set it up properly and when you buy online you cant see whether the diffs or tranny is worn out
