Default SH engine ??'s

Does anyone know the part # for a SH .28 starter shaft? I put a new oneway in and it still slips, I am thinking its the shaft?

Any help would be great!

Seeing as LRP .28s are the same motor, I'm willing to bet their starting shaft is the same...except it comes with the one-way and backplate too. But, the LRP stuff isn't as hard to get.

Like so: <link removed>

SH parts are not hard to get . Also , SH does make the mill for LRP but not the same engine as stated . There are some major and minor differences in all mills SH makes for different companies . According to SH the starter shaft part number TS004 only fits the SH line and XTM line , all others are different .

Sorry about that, Reiko...I forgot you can't do that here. Won't happen again. [sm=red_smile.gif]

Still, it sounds like SH is protecting their (limited) U.S. vendors by saying the parts are different...Take a look at the exploded views of an SH and an LRP .28, they couldn't be more alike...Also, those one-way bearings are clearly the same (very few companies make them), thus the shaft diameter would also be the same. If I ever need just the starting shaft for my LRP, I'm going to order the SH part since it comes separately, same if I ever need a backplate. Thanks for the link Dawman!

You must mean the LRP Spec II is like the SH P6 and the LRP Spec III is like the SH P8?? Have you seen the SH P8, I've never seen one yet.

I have, and so can you...check out the exploded view on SH's site. I never actually said what you just posted, but you're probably right about the P8 and Spec 3. Check for yourself and you tell me how different the 2 motors are.

That's what I am talking about, I don't see the port work on the SH site on the P8, I assume it has it though.

LRP Spec III (check the sleeve)

I am thinking their exclusive deal with SH for the LRP Spec III expired and that's why the P8 has appeared, that's great if they have a Picco variant.

You can see the port work in the exploded view...Admittedly, it isn't the clearest illustration, but what you can see sure looks like your (and my) Spec 3:

http://www.shengines.com/PTF/PT28XM1AC-P8.pdf

LRP's going Picco, huh? Very cool...any more info on that?

I just wish there were more retailers in the US that sold SH engines . I order mine from Dinball on that auction site . If you have a hobby shop that is a dealer for Global hobby you can get any SH product you want .

hmm, picco and lrp getting together.... sounds inserting no more picco vs lrp fights online, get the low end from the picco and high end off the lrp and you got your self a sick motor.

Well, this is intersting info, this raises my curiosity and thus several questions in my mind:

So, does this mean LRP will no longer resell SH(Golden Lion)?
Or will LRP now resell both GoldenLion and Picco under their own badge?
Or does this mean that GoldenLion is now reverse engineering or otehrwise cloning Picco engines and selling them to LRP to resll under its badge?
Or is LRP now making their own engines and cloning the P8 under Picco's liscense or permission or whatever?

I purchased the SH 8 port in an auction. I broke it in this last week and used it to race Dirt Oval Late Model yesterday. Even running rich, it was excellent. I have three LRP spec III's which also work fine.

Was there a noticable difference in performance?? I would say no at this point.

After a very small amount of leaning out, it held up very well against a $600 California modified Novarossi .28. On our 340' drive line oval track I was able to be only .1 of a second slower than the other guy in fastest lap time in the A main and went on to win the A using the SH engine.

If I get the chance to buy another one I will do so.
