Default You can re-build any of them,

It just depends on how much you are willing to spend on a re-build?? O.S. engines cost big time to re-build (At least they do to me )! An RG-X .21 cost about $65, an RZ-V01B will cost you $110! A Kyosho .21 will run you about $40 and a Duratrax will be about the same at $42. Now if you go crazy and buy a super hot engine there re-build kits are much much more!

If you are going to spend $600 on an engine then you might as well make it worth your while, first off you will have to put a pull starter on that black magic, and for 2 you cant buy the to in a package, now if you are looking for some serious power with a pullstart, you need to talk to Robin at Unlimitedengineering, and have him hook you up with a Rody modified Rb C5. You can pick up that package for around $500-600, but I must warn you if you go with this engine you will have to seriously upgrade your drivetrain, and Robin can help you with all of it!!

Info on the Rody C5

I read it right out of a add in Car Action mag Oct 2002 issue! If it is wrong then sorry for the mis-info but, Why would anyone want an engine that cost that much if it did not put out some real big HP?? Oh, and your right about the website saying it only has 2.0hp! It says in the Mag that the Maranello has 2.97hp!

Uhhh your crazy I paid $350 for my Black Magic

They do claim 2.85 but it dyno tested at 2.3

Put a pull start on a Black magic? All I can say is.. if you can get it to go through even one compression cycle with a pull start, I'll give you a $100 bucks!

Default I am not crazy,

I only told him what I read in the Mag! I personally would not pay that much for any engine but, if he wants to he can go right ahead! As far as a pull start I don't think it will take one but, if it could I would use a drill starter! Maybe that C5 is more like the deal he is looking for!

Wouldent a Dyno Give you Rear-Wheel Horsepower (or in savages case 4 wheel?) I know this comes up alot with dyno test. The HP the egin claims to have and the HP transfered to the wheels will always be different.

I know nothing about this engin though.

Default picco 26

Have seen a picco 26 on an savage. They are bad ***** engines. with stock gearing and the engine tuned at a dead stop punch it and it will flip completely over. Have friends with them on thier trks. They are very powerful motors.

In real life, you lose HP through the drivetrain. You probably lose less in an RC car, being as there isn't the same parts involved but I can see how a 2.83HP engine only shows 2.3HP at the wheels.

i dont mean to be rude but alot of you dont know what you are talking about. 600 is only the suggested retail price everybody jacks those up (do some research and you'll find they sell from 350-400). and yes you can get a pull start for this engine! i would not recomend this engine it is VERY TOUCHY and will take a very good tuner. and if you did get a pull start for it i would break it in then put it on. and the hp ratings are also raised up they are always less than they say. and the MARENELLLO? thats an ON-ROAD engine! it would have horrible torque.

if you want all the best all around performance go with a pull start converted rb concepts WS7. NOT the c5 it is touchy and a guzzler.
but the HYPER 8 PORT will perform very well! great power, easy tune.

Default As I am not in the market for a $600 engine,

I did not do a search for prices! Your right about those RB's they seem to be the hottest thing to drop in a Maxx or any other truck! I would love to have one but, I am too cheap!LOL

the rb's will last a VERY long time and the 8 port should last a good while also(but not as long)
