Default stock savage engine problem

I just bought a new HPI savage a couple of weeks ago and ive been having a blast. I used to be into RC cars years ago and had several cars including The Lunch Box, Grasshopper, Turbo Optima and King Cab, man have RC cars changed since then! I was jumping some motorcross jumps and having no problem making 25 feet doubles, with a little bit of brake or throttle i could land these jumps pretty much every time and was quite impressed with the truck aside from the underpowered engine. The problem came in when the truck landed on the rear bumper from about 15 feet in the air. As soon as the truck hit the ground the engine came to a dead stop. When i tried to start it, the engine barely ran as if it was starving for fuel. I pulled the engine out only to have the block fall into 3 pieces. I was wondering if anyone else has had any problems like this. The rest of the engine seems fine including the crank and rod but i dont know if it is worth replacing just the block and if it is even available. Ive been thinking about getting the Picco .26 but i dont know if that block would be stronger than the stock block. Also i have the rotostart for the stock engine and was told it would work with the pullstart version of the Picco. Does anyone know if the non pullstart vesion would work with my starter or is the crank different. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

It sounds like you have a really defective engine there. I would call or email HPI and give them an earfull. If something is going to bust into pieces from a hard impact it definitly should not be the engine.
