Has any one else who owns a Savage have the problem of their brakes being barely able to stop the truck when you first buy it because of its brakes being loose.

Do you tryed to adjust the brake linkage, turning clockwise the screw at the end of the rod?

One warning, DO NOT tighten these up too much. I did and I stripped out my brake hub and disc. One of the first things I would suggest you go out and buy would be an aluminum brake hub and metal brake disc. I replaced my stock stuff with GPM brake parts and now that sucker will stop on a dime and I don't have to worry about stripping anything out. Also, make sure you batteries are fresh. If your batteries are weak, the brakes don't brake as well and the truck doesn't steer as well.

Mine has 6V 1000mA batt and stops on a dime with the stock brakes

If I tighten it too much it will flip on grass an lock on asphalt easily.

Consider too that the stock brake disc takes 5-10 runs to get to the strongest possible brake power.

i went all out with my brakes.

high torque servo on the Throttle/brake and hot bodies brake disk/pads.

I have it so it locks the wheels on pavement at about 3/4 stick movement (not too sensetive but able to get a little extra if I get the disk wet or such.)

so far, even though I tend to really mash the brakes, I havent had a problem with stripping the hub.

yes. when I first got mine it seemed to be too weak to stop the truck.. I find the servo is just a bit weak for stopping the heavy truck.

Listen to me... is all about a few runs ("break in" of disc), a 6V batt and some fine tuning on the linkage.

A high torque servo is a plus, but definitely isn't a must for killer brakes

I can't say a word about wet conditions, 'cause I want my stock disc to last longer, so I will not let it get wet

I stripped two stock brakes before I went to the GMP.

The stock brake doesn't work well when using after market engines. I run the Picco .26.

I stripped the hex centers out of two brakes, and melted one of the plastic hex retainers.

I guess it's just how you run...

'course, I also broke 2 dog bones, stripped wheels
