Ok , this is ganna sound dumb but.....
(not the dumb part) I am biding as most of you know on a t-maxx on e-bay. It has alot of hop-ups such as alu., xtm .21 conversion kit, and a savage .21bb engine installed.
(the dumb part) Would the t-maxx still wheelie as good as it does or better with the .21bb engine? Will it be faster or slower at all? Is there ganna be anyother set backs or plus sides to haveing this engine in it?
If it dont work as planned I will try and bid on a diff .21 or something else to fit it that will help.

The savage engine has more power than the maxx engine but weight and suspension set up will be the deciding factor. You should realize not all Tmaxx's wheelie, even with the 2.5. From what I've seen the 21 conversion is a little heavier and longer, so in order for it to wheelie your suspension will have to be a little on the stiff side. Asisde from suspension and weight there are dozens of other factors like tuning, tires, fuel, surface conditions, etc etc. Also, if the suspension is set up properly for racing and jumping, it shouldnt wheelie at all, after all the suspensions job is to transfer power to the ground in an efficient manner, and wheelies are a waste of power. They are fun, but break alot of parts though.

Converted T-Maxx's and so far one of them does not wheelie and it has a .25 in it! The other one is just getting broke-in and I don't know what it's going to do yet? My first .21 Maxx had a New Era conversion kit and it wheelies all day long! It had a Duratrax Torq .21 and was a ton of fun! I bought 2 XTM kits last year and put one of them together last year and one this week. The one with the .25 has aluminum A-arms and aluminum rims which are much heavier than stock so, this time I went with as little aluminum as I could get away with to see the difference and soo far it looks like this one is going to be much faster and maybe even wheelie!
It has a new Torq .21 in it! I like this engine for a few reasons one being it's cheap to buy and cheap to fix when needed! It also has enough power for the bashing I like to do, it does not have the bottom end of the .25 but, it has better top speed!

My first impression is that thing weighs a ton and there is no way in hell that will wheelie with the HPI .21bb in it. It might not wheelie with alot of other motors as well. Also, you might want to take into consideration that it wont be any good for bashing. An all aluminum truck hitting ANY fixed object like a tree or curb will bend into a pretzel and require MUCH repair, the stock plastic parts allow for alot for flex and can take a real beating, aluminum stuff is initially stronger but still bends pretty easy and it cant "snap back" Make sure you get a real good deal on it. Are those stock Savage wheels and tires as well?

Is right! My .25 Maxx is way too heavy! It does not jump well and I have bent things that I have never bent on my other lighter more plastic Maxx's! Some aluminum parts work great and last a long time but, most are for show!

LOL actualy that truck probably weighs 8 oz more than mine, and I can pull wheelies all the way down the street, or down the lawn, and thats without a wheely bar, and a slipping slipper. I can also jump high and fly strait with all this added weight. My truck is 90% solid aluminum, titanium and steel!! Now dont get me wrong I like lighter plastic parts, but plastic just cant hold up to the punishment aluminum can take, thus why I chose an aluminum suspention instead of plastic.
Anyways I think if you get that truck for less then $450 you will be getting a great deal, but anything over that is kinda crazy, for one that truck has the ext chassis, but still runs the stock suspention width which = lots of roll overs and poor handling.

That there are good and bad aluminum parts! SuperMaxx is good and Dynamite is bad!LOL J/K! It comes down to what you plan to do with it and how much you want to spend! Don't get me wrong here I like how an all aluminum trucks looks and in the case of the SuperMaxx runs and races but, the other stuff just seems to be more for looks than anything else! I had some radio interferance when I was braking in my Maxx with aluminum A-arms and it hit a a parked vans tire and it bent the pillow balls on one side and the front skid! If I would have had Titanium pillows it would have bent my A-arms!
I like plastic because it is cheap to replace and it is much much lighter! If you have the right combo of aluminum and plastic your truck will last a long long time and can take some big time bashing!
