Let me just caveat your purchase by saying, don't let your experience of this truck (if it's bad) to get you out of the hobby. My first truck (a duratrax) nearly did.. it was not good.. then the rc10gt followed by the savage changed that completely. Not saying the truck is going to be bad (It might rock!) just throwing in a "what if" scenario.

I had such good luck with all my cars and trucks as long as you know your limitations .Some of my electric cars are going on almost 20 years old they sit for years they just stick a new battery pack in them and away we go.Just saying know what these cars can and cant do and you can have a lot of fun .My new rtx and mgt 3.0 are both suprising the heck out of me they both freaking crank with only a new pipe on them .The mgt can do wheelies frontwards and back on grass its a real goof to see it .i love my toys makes me feel young again my neighbors must think im nuts.

You can't tell me that you didn't have constant issues with your rear shock tower and differential on your nitro evader. I would break the shock tower every other jump where the truck landed upside-down.. literall. So frustrating!! I then one day found out that the shock tower from the T-Maxx is a direct fit to the nitro evader shock tower!!! WOW that made me happy. I've got one BEEFY shock tower on there now, so that completely solved that problem. Then for the diff, I had to go with all metal gears, the stock plastic just never held together.

Finally, that front steering servo. It would strip just by looking at it. Upgraded to metal gears.

Those I think were the primary frustrations I had with the nitro evader. That, and I don't like the ABN engine all too much. I can say that I love the shocks it comes with.
i agree with you that out of the box these cars can be frustrating

o don't own the nitro one but i know some one who did and he didn't like it too much

1:the steering servo- a futaba 3003, it's like the lowest possible servo you can get. my lhs sells used ones for $2, mine ran for about 2 years and about 4 gear sets before it went.

2: anyone who said duratrax is bad at making cars.....duratrax didn't make their cars, they bought the ideas from some one else. well at least all their old car. the evader is a losi xx-t

3:i agree about the engine, i could beat it in a race, lol

Everything with the RTX made me want it. The thing that stopped me were the tranny problems many people were having. I didn't care about engine issues or the occasional tower or arm breaks as those can easily be replaced with stronger parts (and I would convert it to brushless), but tranny probs are tough to deal with, especially recurring probs, and expensive. Otherwise it looked like an awesome truck. I did pick up a Raze ST tho. Couldn't pass that up.

The tranny has not been a problem on my warhead after putting in the forward on shaft that is standard on the RTX. The only weak spot on my warhead is the diff pinions. I use cv boots on the out drives and put grease in them.

The RTX thread has fairly consistent complaints about tranny problems. I know no problem ever affects all the vehicles of a certain model, but with my luck, I'd probably get one that has the tranny problem.

I've been very fortunate not to have any problems since I put the new engine in. The tranny is holding up very well. The only problem I'm having now is I keep throwing tires off the rims while I'm doing doughnuts. You'd be surprise how tall you can make that inside tire.

I put LST2 tires on my truck with 20mm drive hubs. They work great and the rubber holds up well on the pavement.

Any one know where to get adaptors to change the 17mm hex nuts to 23mm so I can run the 40 series Pro-Lines?
