Default Getting a T-maxx roller in a trade.....

I know I'd need a 21 conversion kit if I want to mount .21 engines...... so, What cheap engines will drop in the first gen. t-maxx? Will an HPI nitrostar 15fe engine work? what about this engines clutch setup? This is the only engine I have lying around and I want to get the t-maxx moving until I get a better engine...... thanks for your help!

XTM .18 will fit, I dropped one in the original T-Maxx, but you'll also need the XTM kit which includes the header & pipe and clutchnut and instructions on cutting the crank.

.15 fe will drop in after a few mods. You will need to cut off all 4 of the mounts on the bottom(they still have these correct?) And then you will need to cut the crank down to were theres about 1/4 inch of threads, the stock maxx or 2.5 maxx clutch kit will work on that engine. That is all youll need to do.

Mega Tech 16 is a drop in engine, no modifications needed. Its cheap and just as fast as a 2.5.

You can get one on Ebay new for 64.00 shipped.

model MTC4606

NO offense but you'd have to be completely retarded to put a 15fe in a 1st gen t-maxx. That engine is seriously underpowered.

I agree with the under powered issue, but unlike most of us, some people just dont have $$ to put the "best" engine in their trucks/cars. And If you knew your engines, yould know that the .15 fe is not one of the most powerful engines out there obviously, but it is one of the more reliable engines, and also with a few goodies like a bigger carb and head, will make it perform 100% better!! As a matter of fact, it will hold its own next to an OS .15 cvx.

My bad ya'll I thought you were actually shooting for some performance out of it. Hey adeoliver what type of carb would you put on a 15fe? And yes your correct, matter of fact I mentioned in a post a couple months back that the 15fe was the most reliable engine I had ever owned.
