Drop in replacment engine for tmaxx 2.5
#1
I hear alot of people talking about getting the Sirio but hear nothing after its installed. Is it steady and reliable?.. or fickle like the 2.5? We are junking the 2.5 and need a nice reliable engine, power would be nice but reliability is first and foremost. What about the Megatech M-16? Does it replace the 2.5 as a drop in? Any reviews or advice on the Sirio?

If you do a search you should find something. I have 2 TMaxx with the 2.5 motors and they run great.
I only run one of the trucks regularly (My Wife's) Most time when I run I use my buggy for bashing. I am thinking of selling my TMaxx. After I broke it in I have not driven mine since.
I figure I could always drive my wife's TMaxx when I want. If I keep mine I need to modify it. I find just stock is to boring and breaks to much. Everytime she takes it out it breaks something. I bash my OFNA buggy much harder and the only thing happens is it gets very dirty.
I would like to get the Sirio .18 for my wife's TMaxx.

The Sirio 18 is a great choice but is way more expensive than another TRX 2.5, I myself have an XTM 18 with an HPI roto starter and the thing has great power (very similar to 2.5's). I'm considering getting a slide carb for the motor too, which is from the XTM 15 parts line.

I just ordered the Siro 3.0 .18 motor from tower yesterday along with the sirio tuned pipe. They are on backorder, once I get it in a couple weeks, I will post a thread with the results. I have read from others that have installed them, they have been very impressed.
I run a nitro rustler with the 2.5 and it runs perfect. I find that my 2.5 in the t-maxx has a tendancy to overheat, or it runs too rich. I think the weight of the truck is too much for the motor and the way I run it, causes the overheating & such. I think the motor is fine, so once I install the .18, I am going to put the 2.5 from the maxx in the rustler and see if it runs ok in it. At this point, I am convinced the motor is fine, it just has to do with cooling, truck weight, pushing the motor too hard, etc. And yes, I have the windows cut out, and have replaced the stock air filter with the motor saver 360 air filter.

From: philippines,
i have the sirio 3.0 installed in my tmaxx. its about 3 weeks old and i have no problems with it. i can run it for 3 straight tanks and the temps stay at a constant 230. it runs great even with just the stock pipe. it runs more consistently than when i had my 2.5. i am also using the turbo plug for it. its pretty powerful. the break in did take a gallon of fuel as stated in the intsructions.
im new in this hobby but i really love it. it really eases any stree i have from work.
