hey, im gonna be heading to my hobby shop on thursday or friday to pick up a new tmaxx!
this will be my first nitro so i want to know if this will be ALL i need. aside from the 12 AA batteries, this will get me started right?
Traxxas T-Maxx 2.5 RTR
Recoil Pull Starter for TRX 2.5
Dynamite Metered Glow Driver
20% Nitro Traxxas Top Fuel (1 quart)
OFNA 500cc Fuel Bottle
Dynamite Air Filter Oil
thats all i can think of that i will need to start it up. after i break it in and run a few tanks i will then start the upgrading, probably starting with a fuel filter, bigger airfilter, and something shiney

do the math:
$20 pull start + $20 glow igniter = $40
$40 peak charger + $20 battery = $60
i know i can get a $20 prophet charger, but if i get a charger i will want to use it for everything so i can upgrade to a 5cell reciever pack. either way though, i'd much rather have a pull start. ive heard too much bad stuff about the ez start. i like a pullstart because well, its always there. plus, i think i read that you can tell if your engine is in need of tuning witha pull start since it wont start as easily.

Be wishing for the E-Z Start! You can get a battery for$12 and a charger at Radio Shack for about $20! If you run into any tunning issues your arm will wish you had the E-Z Start System!LOL

hmmm
most people say that they get rid of the glow plug wire. think that this will be ok?
http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...%5Fid=23%2D322
also, what about a cheap glow igniter, like maybe a $10 alkaline one for a week or two. until i can afford a better rechargable one.

You can get a Great Planes starter for $13 & a rechargeable batter for about $3. Well, from Tower Hobbies at least. I don't have a LHS so I don't know how much of a markup they have compared to Tower.
edit
You might want to get a 4 way wrench & a good phillips head if you don't have tools.

I can tell you this...If you have half of the stalling issues that a lot of people (myself included) have/had with the 2.5, and you have a pullstart to deal with also, I'd invest in a glove too for all the pulling you'll be doing on that 2.5. Unless of course, you want blisters on your hand(s)
. IMHO I would stay with the EZ-start. Out of curiosity, what is It about the pullstart that is attractive to you? Unless you're racing, there is no need to get rid of the EZ start. Also, you mentioned something about knowing when you have to tune based on what the pull start feels like. You'll know you have to tune based on the way your engine is running.

Ummm...yeah???, so is the EZ start.

hmmm, on a post in the traxxas forum, everyone recommended it... they are why everyone hates their 2.5s
jk
so i think ill go with the $30 battery and charger from RS, should i worry about a glow igniter or will the ez start be good for a week or two? i dont have a problem with charging it every night, but being nicd, should i really worry about taking care of it as far as discharging and stuff goes? lol. yeh im lazy
ABOUT how many times can i expect for the engine to fire up with the stock setup and using the blue wire witha 2000mah battery before i gotta recharge it. to discharge, maybe i could get a small weight and hold the button down

If I were you I would get a fail safe so your truck doesn't run away from you. Als get the fuel filter before you run your truck and tire glue.

Yeah do not forget to glue your tires. It was almost 3 weeks before my wife glued hers on. She kept having to put them back on rim everytime. It was funny to watch.

ive been having second thoughts about the savage, LOL. anyways, i know i wont really make up my mind until i am in the hobby shop and looking at the trucks, ill probably ask the guys that work there which of the trucks do they usually need to repair more. so anyways, if i get a savage, think this will work alright?
hpi savage: $410
blue thunder, 20% quart: $10
hangar 9 glow driver w/ meter and charger and battery: $19
dynamite after run oil: $2
proline ca glue: $8
motorsaver air filter: $22
ofna large aluminum fuel filter: $10
it comes out to about $485
eh?

Why don't you look at some other trucks just to confuse you a bit more!LOL Check out the Mad Force it kick's some real *****! Oh, another good MT is the CEN MT2 which is looking more and more like a real real good buy! Once it gets some aftermarket parts for it it should be in the running with just about anything out there!

no i dont want anything else. its either the savage or tmaxx. my lhs has them both massively in stock as far as aftermarket stuff goes. its not that i dont like the other trucks, but since they are mostly used, i can get info easier on them
which would you get and why?

Because I have 2 .21 Maxx's, 1 Stampede and 1 MT Pro! I would have to say I would get the Savage (just to get something different) out of those 2 but, if it was open to anything? I would get either the Titan or the Mad Force! The Mad Force has a ton of speed (I Likey speed) and the Titan has size and power plus some handling to boot! Knowing what I know now I would still have gotten a Maxx but, my second truck would have been Ofna or Kyosho!
