Default T-MaxX w/ram aIr system

I was pondering about how easy it would be to install a ram air system on my stock t-maxx 2.5, by just running a tube from the intake on the carb to the front of the truck and putting the air filter on the end of it. So the faster I go, the more air gets "rammed" into the carb. Has anyone else done this and do you know if this will yield that much of a power increase?

I have done that with an electric car and it DEFINATELY kept it so much cooler. It would probably work. I'm not sure how much increase in power you would get, but you would end up getting a lot of dirt stuck in there if it goes directly to it.

it sounds like a good idea, but dont you think by having your air cleaner in the front it would pick up more dirt? it might not be so good, but i could be wrong...

yeah it probably would pick up more dirt and crap, but then i'd just have to clean it more often.

I,ve seen it done a good bit. I have been thinking of doing it myself. Not only would it force more air in, but it would be a cooler denser mixture, so that would definately create more power. I've seen it done with clear dishwasher drain hose.

I remember reading somthing on this topic about two months ago. Some guy that said he works on racing engines (for real cars) said that forced induction on a two stroke engine is useless and does nothing for it.

sounds like a good theory, but I think the fiters would just get trashed and would the slight gain in power offset the price of alot more air filters and the chance of getting some dirt or gunk into carb.

If your going to do it, make it dual ram air an air filter on both sides of the bumper and then just y connect it before you get to the carb. Just a thought that popped in my head I had this set up on my real dodge ram pickup and it worked well.

Now that would be trick. Maybe a couple of .15 size air filters and connect to one to the carb like you said. That would look sweet

Forced induction would be useless.. but this isnt exactly forcing!

your just increasing the pressure slightly.. and heck its almost free!!

You what would be cool is something like an S tunnel ram air intake..

At the first bend.. all the dirt could get stuck/go through this mesh..

The other end can be connected to the regular air filter. That way the dirt isnt hitting the air filter directly causing it to clog. Sorta like an S drain in your toilets (wow that word isnt used much in the US huh? lol)

ram
