Default Sirio 3.0 .18

I just got breaking my new sirio 3.0 in my 2.5 t-maxx. As Ferris Bueller said " if you have the means, I highly recommend you pick one up". This motor is awesome. No big tuning problems and it makes plenty of power. The only thing I had to do was adjust the shift point a little lower. If anybody has anything else to add to this please post it.

I just got the 3.0 too. So when you adjusted the shift did you do it in the tranny or how did you do it? Also what temp are you keeping it around? 220 like the manual said? One more thing, how long did it take to get going good? Thanks for the help!

Default sirio 3.0 .18

Hey, I just got a sirio 3.0 in my Maxx about 2 weeks ago. Haven't had much time to run it. Maybe have run thru about 1/2 to 3/4 of a gallon. Ran a 1/4 gallon of break in fuel, very rich, then switched to my regular 20% nitro. A few questions for other 3.0 users:

1) What are your needle settings? Mine is like 2 - 2.5 turns out on lsn and 4 - 4.5 turns on hsn. The manual says factory is 7 turns out on HSN, why do I have to lean mine so much to get the performance?

2) I seem to be running about 220-240 heat range.. is this too hot for this engine?

3) What is the best way to adjust the LSN needle on this engine? Should I use the 3-5 second pinch test on this motor. It doesn't have a seperate idle speed screw like my 2.5 motor, so I am not sure if I should adjust the LSN to get a good idle, or if I should use a pinch test.

And just for everyone's info, I have not had to adjust my shift point at all. With the above listed needle settings, it shifts very quickly, I just want to make sure I am not running it too lean. It seems to be producing good smoke & such.

Help please!

I pulled the plug in the tranny and set the shift point that way. I am runnung the motor at about 240 to 260. I can't see running the motor that rich, it makes no power whatsoever. I think the 220 must be during the break in, otherwise the 2.5 would make more power. My 2.5 motor just never ran correctly. It would run at 260 then one lap later it would be at 320 and stall. I sealed the back plate, checked the carb for leaks, etc, etc, etc. Traxxas said to send them the motor back and they will look at it. I told them I am not gonna pay 105 for a new motor when the old one does not even have a gallon of fuel run thru it. What type of cvd's do you guys recommend? I bought a set off of ebay from teambluestar and the pins that sit in the diff cups cracked after the sirio was just about broken in, about ten tanks. Thanks, any help is appreciated.

Does anyone have a good temp that the sirio will run good at. I know the instructions say 220 but at 240 mine runs really well. Do you think that is too hot? I dont want to mess up the engine!!
