ive had my Genesis now for about 7 months and in that time have had more problems then i care to think about, but no motor problems yet. Its in the shop more then it runs. 550 for truck 200 in repairs, sent to cen now 3 times [:@] Yea cen stands behind the repairs but i want to run the darn thing.

I dunno guys....sounds like there are some good ones and some bad ones out there.....I've broken some stuff too but screw sending it back....I would rather wrench it myself - ebay is a great source for parts and I just fix it and go - plus you can pick up spairs very reasonably....

genesis is not for begginer thats my .02.i love my truck but its tricky to tune and when it runs it runs well. When it breaks its $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.Part of the hobby i knew about before i bought one.I replaced radio with fm replaced steering servo.Put locking center diff locker in (wheelie crazy).i added nova head.I also have jumbo kong conversion lol.Now that i like it im thinking of selling cuz it runs great.I think i enjoy fixing em.THanks for posts.

I agree - not for beginners - gotta enjoy the wrenching part - mine was at $1200 by the time I broke it in....just replaced the stuff that had been reported weak in tests....hey - you wanna play - you gotta pay.... I'm ok with that - HP costs money, not just in buying but building, rebuilding, reinforcing, etc.... It's the baddest one out there.

What all have you replaced, and any pics? Ive just begun the break in on mine, only thing ordered so far is the roll bar from new era.

I noticed you posted this question on 2/15 , i have had mine for a week and a half now ill just give you some heads up on this third generation genesis i have,

locktite your drive shaft allen set screws, theyll be loosening constantly no matter what you do, Buy a spare set of suspension arms I just went and bought the upper arms since those seem to be the ones that break first, i replaced them with aluminum, if the lowers break ill replace those with aluminum also. check the adjustments on throttle and braking, my brakes were weak and the throttle wasnt opening to 100% so i had to make linkage adjustments, be careful about adjusting the fail safe, dont have it cranking the servo down to apply the brakes too hard, because if you ever turn off the transmitter ( like when your idling the engine during breakin ) if the failsafe is pushing on that servo hard, it will overheat and then bind / jam. Other than that, make sure you got glow plugs, the cen glow plug didnt last 2 tanks before it burned out, i think i bought sure fire #3 hot, It's on its 10th tank now and still on that same plug. (cen plug garbage? maybe not and i just got a faulty one), check your gear mesh as stated in the documentation, and make sure you check your clutch shoe adjustments, my second gear had one shoe adjusted at 4 turns out, and the other was 7 1/2, they should always be equal amount of turns,

Other than that for a 3rd generation i cant think of much else you would need for spare, except for maybe replacing that sad Impact cIII radio it comes with and the steering servo since its too weak.

RE: Genesis owners... how is the engine?

As this topic asked,,,"How is the engine?"

My engine is rock solid from stock. I have only 35 tanks through my own Genesis engine but the compression is still enough to make you wonder why your sweating to pull this .46 to get it started from the start!!! Thankfully, I do not tug on my pullstart very much to start my .46 because I think I am doing the correct things to get it started from cold. One to four pulls get my Genesis started EVERY time anytime from cold. If I want to start from a HOT engine I need to do other things to get my engine to start on the first few pulls.

I have been asked how reliable is the Genesis and the glow plugs before,,?,?,? I would like to tell you this, I have the same glow plug in my .46 engine as I have in it right now!!. I started a review at www.cengenesis.com to explain my experience with my Genesis. This review has not been recently updated but I will say that my Genesis engine has still been super reliable!!! 1-4 pulls and my baby starts EVERYtime.

As others have been saying above,, You need to be aware of your drive shaft set/grub screws getting loose. Either drive your Genesis and then realise that these screws have come loose when you loose traction and your truck seems to be in neutral or 2WD or realise that you have a loose set/grub screw in your drive-line and re-set it with red or blue lok-tite!! ,,,,SET IT TIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
