LST
how fast does this thing go is it a good truck.
|
RE: LST
To me it's the best nitro MT. It runs right at 40mph. It's very fast, big and durable.
|
RE: LST
could it beat a revo in a race.
|
RE: LST
the lst would beat a revo in a race. my freind has a revo and he has hade problems with his engine and suspenstion and every inch has had to be replace or upgraded. but i have had my problems witch was my throttle servo breaking. and my hobbie shop replaced it free

RE: LST
a Drag race... it would be close... I think I've heard that the LST pulls the Revo at second gear (stock, and I don't know how well it was tuned), but they both top out about the same speed. Track racing... depends on the driver.... people have won races with the LST... people have won races with the Revo... depends on driver experience. As far as quality and durability... I have replaced minimal parts on my Revo. I have spent LESS than $30 in the 8 months that I've owned mine on repairs... of course, I've upgraded, so that's not included in the price, but those things that I've upgraded due to breakage is. The 2.5r is a good motor... somewhat of a pain to tune, but once you get it tuned... it's a great motor.
About your friend... either he sucks at driving, or he just got one-in-a-million that aren't as good (maybe it was made on a Friday afternoon...) I've had 2... sold one a few months ago... and when I sold it ... it was PERFECT... I had NEVER broken a part on it... it tuned up EXCELLENT. |
RE: LST
You should really stick your 2.5r in your Revo for our race next weekend. I'm running a the stock engine in my LST and have raced at least 2 dozen different Revo's. I was at a track in Houston with two heats of Revo's (I was the only LST) and I was running a gear set that lowered my topend and I could still pull away from Revo's with no problems in the straights. They may claim a extra mph on top but if I'm at top speed in 10yards or so and they are just getting ready to hit second then it's just too late for them. This is my direct experience from racing Revo's. A lot of it depends on the track and the Revo driver but out of 2 dozen or so that I have been in races with I know some of the guys are clearly better drivers than me. The Revo is a great little truck and seems very durable but I can't wait for you to see what a LST is like in person. :D

RE: LST
I've already seen what an LST is like in person... I just have not run against one with my Revo. I'd rather not go through the pain of putting my old 2.5r back in... actually, I was getting bored the other night, and pulled it apart and noticed that my sleeve was a bit scored (my guess is when I changed the glowplug... I accidentally dropped some dirt in there... mistakes of a newbie) To be honest, I don't care whether I win or lose. I realize that I opened my big mouth when I shouldn't have... and you called me on it... I'm not a racer by any means... never have been, never will be... but I will race you... because I am a man of my word. Unfortunately, in a track race, it will come down to driver skill... and since you've been a bit more practiced at racing than I have... you will have the upper hand. Honestly, the bigger engine in my truck will hurt me on the track... it has too much low-end power for the track and my tire combo... which makes it so that I really have to be careful with my throttle finger, or else I slide all over. Technically, I'd probably be a better racer if I had the 2.5r... because I wouldn't have to play with the throttle as much... Practicing... I ran down an OS .18tz powered Revo on the straight... it's got tons of power... and it's fast, but on the track, unless it's wet... I have a hard time with it... 'cause it starts sliding if I get anywhere NEAR 3/4 throttle... with the old layout I was 1/4 to 1/2 throttle the whole way... haven't had a chance to hit the track since they've changed it... guess I better hit it this week sometime...

RE: LST
So I guess with the 2.5r, dffs, a-arms, spurs, and motor mounts you pretty much hit your $30 you keep mentioning?? :D just messing with you. Is the Revo your first monster truck??
|
RE: LST
Yes.. it is my first monster truck however I have experienced other trucks... namely a Mammoth, T-Maxx, Mini-T, RC18t, and a Stampede. My experiences with the LST and Savage 25 were only from watching... not driving them... I studied long and hard for 2 months figuring out which truck to buy. I wasn't concerned with price... just wanted the best truck I could find. At the time my friend had a Mammoth... and I knew I didn't want that. I was looking at an X-factor and ALMOST bought one until I went to my LHS and they had a Revo sitting on the counter. I was sold from there... I did my online research... watched this forum (the Traxxas Subforum) for a few weeks... and went and bought 2 of them (one for me.. one for wife) Wife's only got about 1/2 gallon before she got pregnant (of course 1/4 of that was from me and my friends)... and can't stand the smell of burning nitro... so, I sold it... now that you have my complete story... here's the break-down (taken from my website)
Shock rod ends & shaft(2) - $1 Spur Gear (2) - $6 Front A-arm set (2) 1 free replacement ... one $6 from online source Rear A-arm set (1) - $6 from online source Reverse gear (optidrive sensor gear) Just took it out... - $0 Bent a turnbuckle (bent it back) - $0 PRO-1 rocker arm - Switched to LT's.. Free mod - $0 Rear Differential - Replaced by Traxxas - $0 EZ-Start case (landed upside down from 10 ft. high on asphalt) - $10 Now, let's do the math... 1+6+6+6+10= $29 ... which is UNDER $30 Everything else was an upgrade... and did not need to be replaced, I just did it for fun... (2.5r was still running... and pretty well, I might add... even with the scored sleeve) Motor mount came with the new engine... P2's were an upgrade from the LT's... Wheels and tires and body are getting ready to be replaced after almost 3 gallons of use... and hard bashing to boot... |

RE: LST
Ok, I never said that I had $30 worth of parts replaced..
I have spent LESS than $30 in the 8 months that I've owned mine on repairs |
RE: LST
Well just to waste some more time: when I do the math, including your idea that broken parts that you remove and/or get warrentied don't count it still sum's to $30. On to more constructive endeavors. :D:D

RE: LST
hmmm... 6+6= 12.... 12+6= 18 .... 18+1= 19... 19+10 = 29... Did I miss something?
