I think that the stock engine is actually best value. its plenty powerful, pretty reliably, and only like $140 bucks. I put another G3.0 in my firestorm, and im not usuallly one to stick with the manufacturer's engines. I know this probably isnt much help to you, just my opinion...

You can also do the engine replacement program that HPI has. Can return any engine and get another G3.0 for 65 bucks. Im thinking about going that route. was thinking about getting the 18 cv-rx but its like 150 bucks. I dont know which one is the one i need, i know its the one with a rotary carb but unsure about which crank. I got one in my tmaxx and it runs great. i bought it when it was 100 bucks on tower.

I agree, the os 18 is a good engine but since I only bash around with my 3 year old son, I think the G3.0 for 65 bucks will do the trick. I would rather spend the other 75 bucks on some upgrade parts. Here is the link[link=http://www.hpiracing.com/engineexchange/]Engine Exchange Program[/link]

OS 18CV-RX!!
I have them in my RS4 and my MT2. Drops right in, very easy install, plenty of power, easy to tune. I have both of mine paired with a THS pipe.
I got lucky with mine. I found them on a forum, both were brand new. I paid $100 for one and traded for another.
If you get it, you should search on some forums. If you are patient, you will find a good deal on one.

Which THS pipe are you running? Are you using the HPI header?

Have you ever owned a 18TZ motor? I have one in another car and I absolutely love it, and I am wondering how this engine compares. I like how much more of a drop-in the CVR is, especially in this car.

thank you. I have the same one in my tmaxx. I had to trim the crank and get some other parts to make it fit. I have never had problems with this os 18. When i get it tuned right, it wheelies when it hits second gear.

On a stock mt2, after dropping the is 18cvrx in, what parts ended up breaking?
The rear diff?
The reason I ask because I'm reviving mine that's been in storage for almost 10 years! Looking for a good used os engine. I think the 15 cvrx would be great to not break the drivetrain but they are hard to get these days. Used of course.
