Default Nitro stadium truck ID please help

Hi all, I bought this at the weekend, bit of a mess but it was a steal at £10 I know it's a traxxas rustler, but, can anyone help me on the actual model? I've tried googling it and going on the traxxas website, but I can't be sure. Anyone got any ideas on the model and any glaring issues with it, apart from the wheels/tyres, replacement wheels and tyes came with it.....told you it was a steal!!!!

It's an earlier model Nitro Rustler. The original ones came with a .12 engine, later a .15 (both had single needle carbs and plain aluminum cooking heads), and then the Pro .15 model you have there. They have upgraded some of the chassis parts on the current model and have a better engine (2.5 rear exhaust), but most if not all parts for the current rustler will fit yours. The model you have will likely have bushings in the wheels instead of bearings, and the servos (if stock) are lousy... But the truck is good for the most part.

Hey thank you so much for you reply I really appreciate you taking the time to pass on your knowledge to me. With regard to the bushings can I use bearings instead or do you have to stick with bushing? I'm not to familiar with bushings. I did originally get this truck as a spare as I believe most parts fits a nitro sport, is that correct? I do kind of fancy trying to get this rustler back on the road though!!

The nitro rustler is the better truck bar none. The steering system is far and away better than the nitro sport, and the chassis plate is all aluminum on the rustler - much better than the half aluminum/half plastic of the sport. I actually had a nitro sport that I converted to a nitro rustler. The good news is both trucks use the same fuel tanks, servos, transmission, shock towers, shocks, suspension arms, bearings, etc.

The bushings in the wheels and axle carriers can indeed be changed for bearings. I believe they're 5x11x4 size bearings.

I have a nitro rustler currently myself - have had one for about 15 years. The one I converted from a nitro sport into a rustler was stolen from my garage 5 years ago. Attached is a picture of mine. I have RPM shock towers and front bumper on it, ball bearings all around, jato suspension arms (widens stance and makes it more stable), 3.3 Traxxas engine, etc. Its stupid fast for what it is..

Hey thanks for the information, I've already torn her down for a clean up and have already put the bearings in. I'm going to run it first to see how it handles before I do anything else, just for comparison reasons. I will then put the Jato suspension arms on and probably use the Sport as a back up if I need to!
Shame your truck got stolen, there really are some w*****s around!!
Your truck in the picture looks awesome, I bet she does fly with that engine in it!!!
Thanks again for your time.

The Jato suspension is not a direct bolt-on upgrade. Some parts need to be customized slightly, but if you have a dremel, it's no big deal. It makes a significant improvement in how the truck handles though.

She cooks pretty good, but I'm sure an engine with less time on it will do a little better. The engine in the truck now has over 8 gallons through it by now. Maybe closer to 9. The pipe and manifold really make the engine though - the CVEC I have on it now works pretty well, but I'd change it if I were to gear it up for more speed. Wheelies aren't usually a problem except when they happen all the time which with stock gearing is pretty common. I have a Jato too and that's even more ridiculous. I geared it down because it was just too fast and not suitable for off-road stock.

Customizations are no big deal, I have access to all sorts of tools, mills, lathes through my line of work. I do have a question though, I'm looking for an assembly drawing of the Rustler.15pro but all I can get my hands on is a Rustler 2.5 drawing from the official Traxxas site. From an assembly point of view do you know if its the same drawing?

Your Rustler sounds better by every post. I was looking at a Jato ,but, I think its a little to quick for me!!

On the Traxxas website, look under "Legacy Models".

Thanks for your reply but this is all I can find in the legacy section

Nitro Rustler (#4407) (Mar 2010) w/ 2.4GHz Traxxas Link (Model Memory)
Nitro Rustler (#4409) (Dec 2011) w/ TQ™ AM radio
Nitro Rustler (#4409) (Mar 2007) with TRX 2.5 and New ProGraphix Paint
Nitro Rustler (#4410) (2003) with TRX 2.5
Nitro Rustler (#4410) (1997)

Which one? I'd hazard a guess at the 4409 2011 model?

It's gonna be the model 4410 from 1997. The exploded view shows the Pro .15 engine.

Ive found it now and I was looking at it all the time!! If anyone is reading this and needs a assembly drawing for a Traxxas Rustler 4410 (1997) model below is a link.

https://traxxas.com/search?keyword=4410
