I have an RC10 GT with a pull start. The problem I am having is sometimes the one way bearing "catches" and sometimes it doesn't, meaning sometimes it turns the engine over and other pulls it does not. Should the one way bearing be oiled up or left dry? What can I do to fix this?

Not long enough,
Try cleaning the bearing with some brake cleaner and reinstalling it
somethimes they get all gummed up with oil residue and the little roller bearing just are slipping, not grabbing
If you've never taken the back off the engien before be very carful not to let the spool come out of the pull start housing, if you do you'll be sorry while you're trying to rewind that damn spring

That's exactly what mine was/is doing. I cleaned it off with a rag and I was able to use it for the day, but I think scale_only_4-me has it right. I am going to hit it with some brake cleaner or similar solvent. It was pretty oily in there, so that may do the trick.

no there is a small leak in the back plate where the rod coms through. the excess gas/oil leaks through and oils the shft and beraing. i fixed this by buying a new back plate and everything worked fine again.

Anyone have any tips on trying to rewind the spring when it comes out?

i have the same problems rocd. it happend to me at the track. i wanted to run soo bad so i took my pull start and used my brothers starter box(OFNA 1/8). That bad-boi started in 2 seconds. But how do i get the pull start not to sag on the ground [sm=confused.gif][sm=frown.gif][sm=crying.gif][sm=angry.gif][sm=drowning.gif]though guyz.
