will you plan on racing or not? if so, will you be racing on an expert level, or just minor club races? Finally, what is your budget, and do you prefer a kit, or a RTR?

I was under the impression that the 'out of the box' statement meant that he didnt want something that would need tons of hop ups, it would be race ready "out of the box", but i could be wrong.

everyone has their 'fav brand' or whatever its all kinda cliq-ish as far as who says whats better but that 1 year stress warranty or whatever duratrax has is pretty inviting... i was thinking either the evader or the RC10 for me and with it being my first go-round the evader seems a lil more attractive with that in mind, but i want to be able to trick it out hop it up modify it whatever and ive heard the RC10 has hella mods for it so its kinda a close tossup until the day i got my money saved up for it i guess.
will 10 scale ST's fit like say a 10 scale street body on it?
id love to race a cuda round on my ST =)

the rc10gt is a great truck. it is pretty fast and really durable. also the duratrax evader st is a good truck. it is harder to keep in tune but it is fast and durable. it doesnt need a lot of hop-ups either.

wow i am suprised to hear that duratrax is what people are advising...
i will not be acing on an expert level ..
just want something that isnt a lemon .
RTR is def what i want....
how about the new HPI i think its the MT2 .. the LHS has one in stock and he takes care of me when it comes to prices and getting parts for my menace .. if there is something thats not in his shelf he has it the next day .. that is hard to come by..

Duratrash evader ST. I can say "duratrash" cuz I own 2 of em. Its like a black guy calling another black guy a nigger. Its a bad word, but not if a black person says it.... I needed to clarify that.
I have the Nitro evader ST. I havent owned it long enough to comment on its durability but I have compared My ST side-by-side with A brand new rc10gt at my lhs and it was a laugh. The gt plastic peices are wimpy compared to the evaders. The dogbones are about half the size and it just didnt look as well built an the evader. But on the other hand I hate my evader cuz NOBODY stocks duratrash parts. Ive been to atleast 10 HS'S and none of them stock duratrash. Im selliing Both my Evaders and gettin a gt and upgrading it. But best bet go to the hobby shop and look at all of them side-by-side for yourself. Thats just my 1/2 cent though.

My Question is the same,
Wanting to purchase a nitro truck. and am tossed . the Evader or the xtm X-cellerator. both are priced around 260.00 .
the evaders 1 year parts guarantee is a plus . HHmmm...... thanks

buy a xxx nt drake edition, put it together, slap a powerfull engine on it along with a good radio and servos, and be happy with it. thats what i did and i couldnt be much happier with it. since you have expirence with rc cars it shouldnt be hard for you to put one together. eventually youll pry break stuff and put hop ups on it so it might as well be stock with all the good parts, and youll have expirence puting it together so youll know how everything works. the gt is supposed to be a good truck but i wouldnt ever give up my nt for one. i think most of the serious rc guys would agree with me.

what is that supposed to mean...."serious RC guys". you mean like the pros? the rc10gt is the winningest nitro truck of all time. there's nothing wrong with the Losi, its a great truck. but it sounds like you consider the gt to be on a lower level and as a "serious RC guy" I assure you it isn't.

you are a victem of one sided reporting. I assure you associated still dominates in every catagory. I used to like Losi's just for there underdog status...but now it seems I find myself in the minority..which is cool. I still whup losi butt with my GT. it almost seems like the two companies have agreed not to participate in the same races...when they do meet directly it usually is a good fight....

How much is a XXX-NT Drake Edition kit? I have a Rustler with a Fantom .12 and JR XR3 radio, but I'd really like to race, and I can see that I'm going to have problems with the Rustler handlingwise. If I turn too hard, the back inside tire leaves the ground and is dangerously close to flipping. I've tried stiffening the front shocks, but that ends up jacking up the front end, giving it a higher CG and giving the truck more problems somewhere else. The Rustler is really hard to setup so that it runs descent.

eric heller - I race on the pro series, and I can assure you that while the Losi is an amzing truck, and personally, if I were to get back into 10th scale, I would probably get one. However, there is no way that Losi is the dominating vehicle in the pro series. Nor was it last year.
Just to make you feel better, here is the registration from the 10th scale gas class:

im just saying that most of the dudes around here that i know race losi. i dont know about the west coast but around here it seems like everyone likes losi.
#24
im not trying to disagree with you. just stating that losi is a popular company. the gt seems more popular on your long list of names. ive never driven one so i cant tell you that i like it or hate it but i like the design of the nt better

Eric. I agree also, I have owned several GT's and while I like them alot, I would probably go with an XXXNT as well. Just didnt want the author of the thread to think that Losi was the only competition truck in the ST class.
