Im a complete beginner who has just bought a HPI MT2. Ive been trying to run it in but have come across a strange problem and im not sure what to do. I put the car on a box with the wheels free and start it up etc to run it in, but half way through tank the car starts to speed up rapidly on its own. This carnt be good for my new engine. Ive checked the carb after and its still only about 2mm open and theres plenty of fuel in the tank. This is the third time this has happened and adjusting the carb doesnt seem to help (but im not too sure what im doing!) I have also made sure the brake isnt dragging. Please help!?! Cheers, Ben
P.S.
The car does sound a bit clunky but i dont know what it should sound like!

The car hasent even got batterys in it when im running it in, but i have sorted the carb out with the controller like it says in the manual (open when the throttle is full etc). If i put the brakes on wont it just melt the clutch? Am i just too careful!?! [

it would take alot more than that to melt a clutch. just push the throttle all the way back when it starts to rev up, and see if it stops. if it stops then for somereason the throttle is being applied without you touching it. is it cutting out or anything when it revs up? check to see if your getting big air bubbles in the fuel line. if you cant get it to idle just shut it off befor it ruins something.
