Ok, that's the same engine I am using. I am not using the stock collet, I gave it to my bro. I figure that would be it, because the flywheel is too far from the engine case and that would be why it's interfering with the brakes and not aligning. I thought It would do with the flywheel a little far away, guess it didn't work, lol.

Just to confirm; you did toss away the drive hub that came with your .18?

Tks much!

Some time this summer, I'm gonna have to get a musclecar body for my MT2 and try to get it as close to this as possible.

I mean c'mon... that just screams badass.

Alright guys, i've had my MT2 for almost a year, but recently it has been out of action the last few months because i picked up a Savage SS. But i took out the MT2 today and i still love it.
I have a nice tax return coming soon so I feel the need to add some hop ups and i have some questions.
Is the OS 18 CV-RX a direct drop in?

Which pipe would go well with my new engine?

And i figure new engine=fried diffs! so what do you recommend i do for those?

What type of clutch do you recommend because i think mines done for!

What about the Two speed, how has that held up for everyone?

If possible could you post item numbers or links!

sorry to ask so many questions but i want this thing to be fast!
Any input is greatly appreciated!

I hope so, but I seriously doubt it. I've been looking at different (car) bodies for my MT, popular subs are the Savage slim bodies (the 'cuda and the other american muscle, I don't remember which one), because they are less than 170mm wide. If you want a touring body, you'll be in for some serious cutting, and it probably won't look right when you're finished. I'm giving some serious thought to either the 190mm lotus elise or the 190mm murcielago, but I also expect a sever amount of cutting will be involved. I seriously doubt a 200mm would be worth trying, but if you do try it, post some pics and let us know, 'cos I'm sick of boring truck bodies too.

What's the biggest engine you've put in your MT 2. I just bought a O.S. Max .21 RX-RM and was wondering how much of a challange it is to put this engine in, here's a link to a pic, thanks for any help. I know that if i put it in, i'll have to streghten the drivetrain, you can list whatever parts you think i'll need to make this work. Thanks

Need to know what servo you have and more then likely you can find it on Tower Hobbies web site. Most servos you can get the case but not all.

HPI servos are made by Airtronics. You would have to call HPI to see what is the cross to Airtronics. I would suggest you up grade your servo as the stock ones are not that good.

How much is 200 Canadian in US dollars. I would suggest the OS .18 CV-RX that sell on Tower Hobbies web site for $99.99 US dollars.

I've the rotostart on mine, and it seems a lot easier than a pullstart, but the only pullstart i've used is on a Hyper .21, which are really tight anyway. However, it does mean you have more to carry if you're walking away from your car or whatever, whereas with the pullstart you only need the glow starter.

I have spent the last month converting all my rotostart engines into pullstarts cus the rotostart was doing my head in (basically i got bored of charging the batteries and one of my rotostarts chewed a cog up leaving me car-less for a day) Now im converting them all back cus no matter how carefull with the pull starts they either snap or start fraying the cord and i cant be bothered to keep rewinding them. Im getting a heavy duty roto start (probably be a drill) which should sort out the battery problem and im never going back I HATE PULLSTARTS!!!!

That’s funning because all 4 of my nitro vehicles have pull starters and to this point I have never had a problem! Some of them have as much as 4 gallons of fuel throw them and never had a problem with the pull starter. Just wonder if people are using them properly or what?

We seem to have this kind of coversation quite often. I have accused people of misusing equipment causing it to break i.e spurs, rotostarts. I can assure you i have tried my hardest to baby the pullstarts but they are just annoying me so i am swapping my collari (when they bring a backplate out) and 18ss to roto start but i will leave my T 15 as pullstart as i have never had a problem with it

Hello all!
I am in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Okinawa Japan. I have the original MT and want to change out engines. I have a few choices though. I just bought an rs4 3 18ss car. I want to swap that out with the .18 OS cv-rx engine. Now should i just put the 18ss in the mt or get the OS one for the MT too? I plan on upgrading the front and rear diff off of the info i got here, along with most everydriveline component. Also, for those of you with upgraded engines, what gearing do you uses and one speed or 2 speed? I need to really think about this because there are NO lhs here that carry HPI parts so i will have to order tehm. Thank you all!

I am not accusing any one of anything I am just trying to understand. Just do not understand why some people have problems with their pull starter and others do not have any problems. Like I said I have 4 pull starter vehicles and never had a problem with them and some have over 4 gallons throw them. To be fraying the cords they have to be rubbing on something! I do not let my cords rub on anything and if this is the case it sure is not the pull starter fault! Yes you cannot pull the cord out too much and if this is the case it is not the pull starters fault. So why do some have problems and others do not have any problems? This is a discussion form and I am trying to see what is up and not start anything!
Happy Easter to all.
