Doesn't work with new model cars though....only the ones with carburators and no computers. Also DO NOT try it with an automatic car. I saw a video of some theives trying to do that and they smoked the tranny.

You can do it with a new model car, as long as its a stick and you can turn the key over.

Bump start is when you use a starter wheel (either on a hand-held motor or in a starter box) to turn the flywheel on the engine.

you can do it with any stick shift. with a automatic it wont work because there is a clutch that engadges. i did it on my quad when i was little, once in a while it would go dead. i tryed it on my 400ex and it has too much compression, the wheels just lock up.

In an automatic, the torque converter slips; ie. does not acheive lockup. Hey, on your 400ex, try it in a higher gear, if it locks and drags in 1st try 2nd, if it still does try 3rd, one of those will work for you... actually the same goes for a car...

ya i know i think i tryed 1-3rd gears, its hard to get it into higher gears when its not moving. it was cold and snowy at the time but i thought the studs would grab. it didnt matter anyways because i found out the plug was fouled. i dont like doing this. my dad was telling me about starting his truck along time ago by pulling it with his 3 wheeler(like i said along time ago). i guess my bro was in the truck and he had the key turned off so it took them a while to figure it out.
