Default Slipper Gear Problem?

Truck is the Pro .15 Nitro Rustler. I put the truck on the ground after driving it around my backyard with grass. It had trouble in some taller places. Anyway, its been having this problem where the spur gear is not on perfectly. It'll touch the clutch bell fine on one side but when I rotate the spur gear a little it doesn't go together as well and therefore the clutch bell just spins and doesn't turn the spur gear.

After sort of fixing that and putting on a new spur gear I put the truck on the ground and the clutch bell spins the spur gear but the truck doesn't go anywhere. I have the slipper tightened good and it makes a slight grinding sound. I was afraid the tranny was shot but I took it all apart and the gears are fine. One thing I noticed was that the little thing that goes in the middle of the spur gear is plastic and kinda worn down. I found the part on Tower Hobbies and it was made of metal and had the hex cut out in the middle. The little plastic thing looks like it was like that at one time but has become worn down. I would think this is the problem but if I understand how the slipper works then that shouldn't have anything to do with it... I ordered a new Robinson Racing spur gear and noticed that the bearing in the middle that is pre-installed did not have the hex cut out, so I am assuming it doesn't matter...

This feels repetitive.. lol sorry Everything looks fine with the gears other than the stupid little white plastic thing. Any ideas? Are the friction pegs worn down too much? I can pick the truck up off the ground and the wheels will spin after making some faint grinding noise.. And the tranny gears are fine..

gear mesh
you went thru all that and all you had to was reposition the gears. Take out some motor mount screws, and roll the truck and move the motor until the gears roll freely. Mine does it all the time.

Not sure if thats it.. it doesn't really make sense.. Can you define what "gear mesh" is so I can look for it myself?

Anyone else have ideas? I'm ganna wait to put the engine back in and all after I get my parts..

When you put the spur gear and clutch bell togather. That is gear mesh he is refering to. Make sure they are not binding up. My lhs told me to put a plastic bag (like the ones you get parts in) imbatween the gears, push the gears togather, tighten the screws, pull the bag out and it's all good.
