Couldn't find one so I decided to start one! On the type-r, what I have, has anyone had trouble with the triad pro tranny? I don't think I have heard yet from one who has. Some of my favorite braggin rights includes: tranny, shocks, and the exhaust. At tracks in my area today, you see the rc10gt's with the TC-pro suspension on them and same goes for the LOXI XXX-NT.
What engines do some of you have? When I first got this truck, my VERY FIRST nitro truck, I started with the HPI Nitrostar SS .15 and STILL race it today!

Well what ULTIMA did you get? I have NEVER heard of one breaking, and in fact I have 6 1st places in A-mains since I got this truck last year. The RTR age is out in racing... duratrax is just tryin to make sales... of which their evaders look exactly like Losi's.

There is support for the ultima teams, but not for evaders. There are only evader's out there now because they are cheap and people get their hands on them because they are more like entry trucks. Plus, you have a .18 made by os! But with out the OS engine... the evaders wouldn't be where they are today. If I were to race .18's, that OS would be the first one I'd go to. But to just say the better parts about the ultimas, is that all the parts have a better center of gravity. When I did the test drive for my website, we raced the Ultima Sports, the X-C from XTM and the Evader. They are good entry level trucks, but the 2 drivers and I picked the X-C.
The evader is a decent truck, its just that there isn't enuff parts out there for me to want to race it. When I participate in races, I compete in the .12's. Thats where the problem comes in with the evader and many other RTRs... illegal in roar.
Heck, when we raced the 3 trucks, including mine, ultima type r, the evader did come in second... but like you said, its all driver and driver preferance. Come here and I will let you take my truck for a couple of hotlaps! If you want, you can drive mine and i will race it with yours. [8D]
Last but not least... you don't see me flaming up about the Evader sayings its horrible because of one bad experience with it, so why do it to the ultima? I'd like to get a thread going that doesn't have to be closed all the time... and if thats the way to be, then I will bring back my T-Maxximum forums. One last question... did you build your ultima or did you get the RTR ultima?
I'd also like to break it to ya... but Duratrax and Kyosho are under the same company. http://www.bestrc.com/index.html these are distributed by the same company! or so towerhobbies says... and they are owned by great planes... so of course its all of the companies mass distributed by great planes.

keep in mind distribution and actual companies being together are totally seperate. kyosho is definetely a totally different company than duratrax even through they might have the same distribution company...

evader is a beginner truck. i've driven it and it has budget parts. although it's fast, the engine is illigal in most tournaments and the truck has a hard time handling well on tracks. ultima evolution kits or type r ultimas are in a whole different league....

Well at least I am not the only one who thinks it is a beginner truck. I am not saying its garbage... because the Evaders were a XX design, losi sold it to Duratrax (at least for their electrics).

I guess I had the cursor on the wrong window when i was typing it... DOH.

Normally when you quote something... you say something directly after it....
Anywho... an update on Ultima victories... I won the 15 minute B-Main... came in 5th on the 25 minute A-main. No excuses... but man... I have never raced someone who was super familiar with the track more so than I was. I also realized that my servo horn on my steering servo was falling off. At least it held up in the B main hehe

OH well...Anywho I am about to get my new Dirt Hawgs I plan to use to race a T-Maxx. This guy claims his will dominate.. well hopefully these tires will hold up in the basher style race. I guess I can let you guys know how this race goes after the weekend, so far, more and more entrys everyday!
Last year I dominated the drag races, but lost in the basher races. Using Bowties wasn't the best idea considering the grass and pavement that you constantly alternate.
Dirt Hawgs... anyone have a basher race (Cross-Country) victory with these badboys? If not, I am about to be the first!

Well the main competition I have is that T-Maxx of course... its heavily modded... mainly with Dynamite parts. Not to mention the new suspension from Proline also. It might be the regular pro .15 but this one can haul compared to any new 2.5... which might be small concern.
The big race consists of: Offroad, onroad, grass, and then there is also sand... plus a little bit of hill climbing. Basically we are gonna be beating the crap outta our vehicles, and I guess a Header and Pipe are whats up for grabs. I also want to mention... this is ONE race... like a sprint to the finish, similar to Dakar.

Why do a Basher race when you've raced competetively? If you raced a t-maxx on the track your car should take it easily (t-maxx truck are to bulky around the track). Basher type races are fun but not intended for people that want to race in competetion, but that's my opinion.

It is a campground event... kind of a olympics for R/C vehicles. There is also a truck pull... so its not just one event... its a huge list of events.

I have 2 Ultima ST-R GP's, both highly modified. One has the Kyosho Hard Aftermarket Chassis and Aluminum Nose Plate, plus Trinity Aluminum rear a-arm mounts and rear hub carriers. The front shock tower is a JT Racing Products aluminum tower and the rear tower I made from 6061-T6 aluminum. I replaced the stock fuel tank with one from a Ofna Nitro OB4, and I run a O.S. CV 12 that I custom ported with a MIP header and side pipe. Its a good race truck, the tranny and shocks are by far the best i've had in any Nitro Truck i've owned and raced. The only compaints i've had were the stock fuel tank, and it lacks in the steering department.
My second Ultima ST-R is the most modified of the two. I built a new chassis that brought the wheel base out to equal the RC10GT. One of the best things about the RC10GT's is it's steering, so I ditched the Ultima front end for a GT tub chassis front nose plate and suspension. Once again I chose the Ofna OB4 fuel tank over the stock fuel tank. Power on this one is from a Thunder Tiger EVO 12 with a Dynamite header and a Paris Turbo Ring pipe. It came out looking a lot like a GT, but the combination of Ultima and GT parts have made a truck that handles great, and being that its one of a kind, I couldn't be anymore happy with it.

Here are links for the main aftermarket parts I got for my Ultima.
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXUW88&P=7

The Nose Plate that is in this link says its for the Ultima EVO, but its the same plate I have and it is a direct fit. Also, the New Ultima EVO chassis will work on the ST-R, so i've added the link for that too.
