Um, why is it bad? If you get dirt in your engine, you can seriously screw it up. You can scratch up the piston/sleeve, you can scratch other internal parts, and you can get the dirt stuck in the bearings on the inside of the engine, which will cause the engine to not turn freely, which is kinda bad. As for getting the dirt out, first: try flushing it out with fuel; second: take it all apart, clean it (flushing with fuel as needed), and put it back together, making sure you put everything back together properly and not scratching anything.

Yeah, I did that after I blew a piston. I didn't clean it out well enough, and ended up blowing two pistons, lots of glow plugs, and stretching a connecting rod. I now have a Fantom .12 with an Associated low end pipe, however, I'm having problems. [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/Priming_problem/m_1859042/tm.htm]Advice would be great.[/link]

Check [link=http://www.hpiracing.com/engines.htm]this link[/link] to see what dirt can do to your engine. There is a very tight fit between the piston and the sleeve. And I do mean a VERY tight fit. Also the piston goes like 30.000 times up and down a minute. Imagine 1 tiny piece of dirt, like sand, got in there. You're engine will be ruined at no time.

I think it is best to completely dissasemble the engine en clean every part thoroughly. If you don't know how to do that, search on google or [link=http://www.hpieurope.com/walkthroughs/rebuild-eng/engrebuild.htm]look here[/link]. You must understand that even the smalles dirt particle inside your engine will ruin it in less than a minute (if it's not already ruined). And while you are at it, you can check if the piston/sleeve needs replacing or not.

yup totally disassemble, then take electric motor spray and spray the crap out of stuff, i would even put con rods, sleeves etc in a cup and spray motor spray in there, and soak them, stir them. take the block, shoot that spray down inside there, totally soak it. I would also clean the outside, make it look new, you will know when everything is all clean, lightly oil w/ bearing oil, reassemble, then put some after run oil into it, get it nice and oiled up, and try running it again. when you are done, put after run oil into the block, and keep it oiled up.

If you ran it in the dirt w/ the filter off, then you probably are screwed, but not necessarely, so try this out and see what happens, it can be intimidating to take apart your motor, but hey you have to do it sometimes. so might as well pop your cherry on it now.

You'd have to get a new sleeve/piston and you'd be good to go. You don't need a new engine everytime it blows up or loses compression.
