Default Rustler Receiver problems

Talk about adding insult to injury...
Some how my rustler got left out in the rain, and now all of my electrical is jacked! I had the receiver in a balloon, but I think It got messed up too. When I turned the truck on the servos would fire up and make that sound they always make when you flip the switch to "on." When I played with the transmitter, nothing happened on the truck.
My first question is this, from my description is it possible to determine if it is the servos or receiver that are fried?
Next, I went down to my LHS and parted with 30 of my hard earned bucks, got a receiver and proceded to install it. When removing the old one, the battery input wires came out of their housing, Now I am not sure in what order the two wires have to go back into the housing. If someone knows or can check on their rusty, I would be forever grateful.
I love this hobby, but sometimes it leads to serious tool chucking accompanied by loud bursts of profanity. Aren't hobbies supposed to be a way to relax?!?
