RE: Anyone else dip servos?
I dont really bother because my digital servo is water proof from the factory and all my other servos arnt worth it. If I have a costly servo and it isn't water proof, I'd do the diping thing. Looks like a good way to seal the servo

its a thing called "Plastic Dip" comes in a metal can. you can get it at Home Depot. What you do is, clean off any surface dirt on servo, dip it in the plastic dip (leave it in there for like 5 seconds) and take it out to dry(hang them in the air if you can), then repeat like 3-4 times and wait until they are fully dry to touch and mount. It keeps water from getting into them.[8D]

not too hard, the more thats on it, the easyer it is. just take a blade and cut sideways on it, pick at it for a second and it all should come off very easy.

Dip it until the wire is solid (past its' boot) and dont worry about the splined output. Like crash said but to clarify, after 3 or 4 dips (wherever you are happy) use a razor to cut away the output shaft portion...

hhhhmmmm...this is very interesting. Believe it or not, I've never heard of this process yet in all my years of R/C. It sure does sound a lot better than trying to put balloons around them. I'll have to check that stuff out and see how it does. Thanks for the tip!

I tryed that once and it worked fine but then I read an article in rc driver and liked there way better and that was to open it up just a little and put a fine line of rtv sealent this has worked awsome and for the output shaft I used prop grease for boats. made it very water proof

Anywhere else you can buy this plastic dip. I have not seen it over here so was wondering if there is mail order for it. Am just going to do a search on the WWW to see if i can trace it down as it seems a good idea to me.

Yea you should be able to find the stuff in just about any hardware store. We did this to my buddies GT also, the servos and the receiver. Plasti-dip is the sweetest stuff EVER!! lol i can think of a million things to dip in it. He also had some 7 cell stick packs that had some insulation comming off so yea we dipped those. In our experience the dip has no ill effects on plastics so dip without worry. Once its dry it does come off pretty easy, so don't worry about getting your electronics back to original shape.
