Default Engine break down.

Im sick, stuck inside so i opened up my old engine from a while back to take a looksy, i found some stuff i thought that would be worse:

Hmmmm ps and stuff was looking ok, piston sleeve is burnt out though

Hah! i knew i burnt the piston!

Only the top of it?[:-]

Rust ring? lol

Talk about clean! [X(]

I thought it would be worse, no sand/dirt was in it! The engine was spotless except for the rust and burnt spots from running lean....oops lol. Would this engine be safe to still run? [&:]

well it does depend was it running or not, that will tell you weather it will run without a rebuild or not

Here is a way to determine whether you need a new piston/sleeve. With the flywheel still on the shaft, the cooling head on the engine, and a glow plug installed... if you can use ONE finger to turn the engine over (by pushing on the flywheel), then you need a rebuild. That yellow glaze is from the fuel having castor oil... thats good to have.
