I just keep it to myself mostly. I think i used to tell some people back in middle school. I even brought my GT into class once and did a speach on it i think. People thought it was pretty sweet after seeing it. Now that i'm in college i don't really give a crap about what people care about me. If people think i'm a fag for enjoying a hobby then they can go to hell cuz i'll find plenty of other people to hang out with.

People always made fun of me for racing R/C. They thought that until I gave a speech on how to mod and rebuild r/c engines. Then I show'd a couple vids of how to do freestyles and how to have fun in skate parks. They have more respect for me than ever now, especially when they found out how much skill was required to do the tricks

OH,
I am not sure if it is an age difference, but when I began doing RC in the '80s it was the hot thing to do. People loved it and were interested in the cars and the people. As it has become popular again, I think that some of us old timers in RC are our own worst enemies. To validate my point, I have a great LHS and another OK one. In the OK one there is a gentleman about my age who, no s**t, acts like the guy form the Simpsons - The comic book guy. If I were a kid getting into this sport and he were the first person I met and he was trying to get me into the sport - I would run. This guy has never left RC or the '80s for that matter. I do not think he is the only person like this in RC.
I love RC and am excited to see another generation getting interested in it. Please don't let other people's opions effect your outlook on it. It is the only activty that you control all aspects of racing. Tuning, racing and troubleshooting. It is a great exercise for the brain.

Lots of spelling errors from you guys... anywho. If our school had a hobby day, I'd bring in all my trucks and maybe a couple of my onroaders. Nothing could be more fun than roasting an old set of tires down the school hallways. People at my school tend to be more interested in who's engine has more snap when whippin donuts... I gotta love my .15 Nitrostar SS for having its low grunt. For that one time I DID bring it to school... I just so happened to be doing donuts in the dirt while a couple of the guys that insult me for RC came over to see what I was doing. Of course they tried to con me down again... so I changed my tires, threw on the set of Sand Paws and sent dirt flying at them... pulled a couple wheelies, and also managed to jump one of their Civics. Ever since that day, those "preps" have down right respect for me now. Just think if I didn't land or if I crashed thru their car... so much for "respect" lol.

Allmost all of my friends think that this is a waste of money, because they are allways skateboarding. But they think RC's are cool, but they would never spend any money for a RC. I told one guy about the "real" RC cars and told him that you can tune it and buy hop ups, he just started laughing![

I live in a small town just 5 secs. away from Reykjavik (capital of Iceland) wich has about 100.000 people, my town has about 4.000 people. But, in my street, I know about 3 or 4 who has rc cars.

I think most people who like rc cars at school make fun of others to hide that they play with them too. Heck our football player came to me because his TC needs a hefty rebuild (terracrusher). Which reminds me... I gotta tell him about the .18 CV-R for a replacement DOh

I am 25 years old, married and have a 4 year old daughter. I play Xbox Live all the time and am getting back into R/C cars after a 10 year break. I work hard and I like to play hard. I dont really care what people think. Its called a vice. There are some really bad addicting vices out there and R/C and video games are not one of them. I dont have enough money to buy a four wheeler or a boat so I get my fun fix in cheaper ways for now. All you guys in high school heres some advice. Dont spend all your money on R/C cars save some money for your first car or your education and stuff. Always remember there is alot of time in life to be the guy that has the best stuff. When you get older and your making your own money it is alot more fun to do stuff like r/c cars because your not spending every penny you have. And you can usually afford to buy what you want.
Most important!!! Dont care about what the next guy thinks! 9 out of 10 times its jelousy. Life is too short to worry what people think. As long as your happy and having fun then thats what matters most.

I use to race BMX . I raced for 2 years for TeamDK. I never won any champonships or anything but I was dating the #1 girl on the GT Team, Beca Johnson. BMX cost me alot more money then racing my rc10 ever did. This was about 11 years ago though.
